This is a fantastic set, the pieces feel very hefty and are really great to play with.I cannot think of a better set for casual and club play. The extra queens goes to show that these guys really love chess.

What I love:1. The size and weight of the pieces were exactly what I was looking for: Pieces that feel fun to just hold and move and have that great, light *Clunk!* sound when taking your friend's pieces. Music to my ears every time.2. The felt bottoms are trimmed nicely and are flush to each pieces' base.3. The silicone mat lies flat on almost any surface and is easy to pack and clean.4. The box is just fantastic. The little jokes and lines here and there are priceless. A handful of chuckles at the very least is guaranteed.5. Also, an unexpected surprise is how transportable the case is. You can quickly pack up your chess set in an awesome, sturdy little box and carry it around easily.5. Lastly, the manual is a great introduction to basic and advance chess rules, tactics, and strategies. While it's nothing too in depth or something you couldn't find online, they deserve an A+ for such a clean, simple, and clever presentation with slick designs on every page.Other Things to Be Aware Of:1. The silicone material of the mat has a strong chemical order when first opened, but washing it once mostly got rid of it.2. The material makes things like dust/hairs/etc. cling to the surface easily, but luckily it's fairly easy to brush off and clean as needed.

The board/ mat is bigger than I expected. You really need some space to set it up, so I'd double check the dimensions, but the set is great. The pieces are heavy and tall. I really wanted the quadruple weighted set and honestly I'm happy they were out of stock. After getting my hands on this one and playing a few games everything is proportioned really well and the larger one might have been a bit much imo. The reversible mat is also a great feature.My only criticism I have is I would like a little more detail on the kings, the cross on top falls a bit flat when compared to the rest of the set but I'm really splitting hairs there.. Speaking of- the mat does collect dirt, hairs, that sort of thing after a while but it is water ( and alcohol) proof so cleaning is not an issue

My younger daughter literally responded to the new set by saying, “This is the best chess set ever!” (Then I showed her the box title lol).My elementary age kids love the fun googly eyes. I laid the board on the coffee table and let’s just say they are enraptured. They already loved the game but now they can’t wait to “play” with their googly-eyed friends.I also love the weighted feel and larger size of the pieces. The board laid flat and perfectly right out of the box. We never had extra queens before and the drawstring bags are nice looking and functional. “The best” set for us, thanks.
