Perseverance it works
INITIAL EXPERIENCE THEN 2 UPDATES -Having experienced loss of Wi-fi signal in the last few weeks for some unknown reason and previously putting off getting a chime. I opted to buy the Wi-fi extender with door bell chime , bonus!(some people might think this is a con buying an extra device to make your doorbell make a noise but I had money to throw away like everyone else)Having read all the negative reviews about the Wi-fi extender being hopeless I decided to buy one anyway, I often staple my ears to the table or run around the house with scissors just to prove I can’t take advice. The extender comes in a lovely box which looks and feels the part of something you would buy to make your doorbell make a noise. The instructions are simple. Plug it in switch it on scan the barcode the thing flashes it connects to your Wi-fi and Bob’s your uncle your doorbell can now let you know someone is at your door, an unusual concept.Takes a while to work out, I expect as most people are just used to convenient plug and play devices.I tried resetting it, plugging this in that in , flashy blue light not green, nightlight on off on off , blue green bla bla, unable to join network bla blaI’m now happy i wasted a lot of money and time comfortable that technology has once again gained the upper hand in destroying all hope for mankind. As I write this it’s plugged into the wall in front of me, flashing away telling the toaster they are winning. At some point I will probably contact customer services just so I can revel in the whole experience , pressing buttons and being put on hold. Hopefully I will be transferred a few times and after 20 minutes get cut off.Things were so much simpler before!UPDATE 15/06/21Having spent the night mulling over the fate of Sarah Connor I duly persevered with this device.I deleted the chime pro in the app and started again. After a number of failed attempts I managed to link doorbell to the chime. As it stands the doorbell now has a signal. The chime is installed 2 meters from the door and about 9 meters from the router.Have given this 3 stars now and Will see how the signal is after a spell .UPDATE 20/07/21Since I stuck at it and managed to get it working the signal has not dropped out and the chime works. The crux is getting them linked. Good luck and don’t let them win.

Amazing
After moving our ring doorbell further away from the house, it was constantly offline due to no WiFi signal. The Chime Pro solved this issue straight away. It was so easy to set up, with instant results. Anyone having issues with no WiFi signal should absolutely purchase the Chime Pro....Amazing! Highly recommended

So easy to setup, and far better range than the Gen 1
I had a pair of the 1st Gen chime pro’s with the two aerials on that worked well, but I have a few ring products, one pro bell, one floodlight cam, one internal cam and one stickup pro cam, three chimes, 2 are pro’s and the complete ring house alarm setup, I also I have 4 Alexas and various smart bulbs, plugs and other tech that all use the 2.4g band and it was all getting a bit crowded, so these new chime pros that replaced the Gen 1’s also use not only the 2.4G but also the 5G that really help with the network sharing on my bandwidth, as they setup and switch to whatever is needed automatically, so you don’t need to select what one you wish to use, I don’t know if you can set your preference but it automatically doing it is far better anyway. They really do seem to extend my range better than the older Gen 1’s (although they are still good) with a nice stable connection.I also very much like the nightlight feature that works perfectly, I have one in the kitchen to help help extend the range of my rear floodlight cam, that lights up only when it’s dark, if it’s getting dark and I go to make a cup of tea and walk near making it briefly darker it automatically switches night light on, if I walk away it again automatically switches off, again the second pro is in my porch extending my door bell pro range, again that nice nightlight feature helps when my timed porch lights go off saving to even ask Alexa to turn on and off the porch light, as there is plenty of enough light to see briefly when getting stuff out of our freezer or tumble dryer that also sit in the porch, I find the light to have a slight yellow appearance rather than a bright white light that hurts my eyes, it would be to bright for say a bedroom possibly but fine in my opinion anywhere else, that said you do have the ability to turn the light feature off in the settings so in that sense it can be used anywhere.Connection was a breeze so simple to do, you don’t need to use the QR code on the unit as you can’t see it on the unit until you unplug it and look behind, but there is a second one on the box or instructions relating to just that ring, porch one setup first time no problem, second one setup on second attempt but was still so easy to follow the instructions and voice prompts from the ring itself, so for the second time I simply moved my phone that I was setting up the kitchen pro with to the midway position between my living room (where router is) and kitchen, then it went straight through, if you find you have problems setting them up in position you could just plug them or any ring tech in the same room as your wireless router, then once setup simply unplug and then move them to your desired location and let them boot up, I did not need to do that but seems the logical easy solution if people are having setup problems, I have never had a rage issue with any of my ring products once they are all setup, I found setting up my bell indoors first way easier than running back and forth pressing buttons and taking off and on the cover etc.So had these a few weeks now and I can say I am completely happy with them and would recommend highly! The only one feature I would like Ring to add is the ability to have separate volume levels for the bell and motion notifications, I would like the bell level on full so as not to miss a call, I like the motion detection zones and sounds but would love to have that volume way lower, no matter what volume you set either bell or notification they affect each other, you turn one down and they are both down, or both up, that said maybe another feature Ring could add would be if the chimes also sounded when the ring alarm went off, wouldn’t hurt to have more sirens all over the house going off at once even if ring say that the base and keypad levels are sufficient DB levels to be heard anyway. The chimes work well with a nice selection to choose from, so all in all a very good unit.
