MaxxHaul 80875 1-1/4" to 2" Hitch Adapter With 4" Rise and 3-3/8" Drop - For Class I and Class II Receivers

There is some play when used with my hitch receiver. Had to use electrical tape to remove the play and then one of those Plates with a U shaped bolt to really take out all the wiggle. It's heavy and sturdy though.

My 1 1/4 inch receiver is Class I. And I need a 4 bike hitch rack, most of which come with 2 inch receiver. Did some research and decided give it try with a adapter. I am happy with this adapter for 1) it is very solid made 2) it raise the 2 inch receiver by few inches, which is important for my Impreza.This adapter add 6 inch on top of the original designed tow weight's ball position (11 inches). That means to reduce the tow weight by 30-50%. I ended up compensate the number with a 3000lbs ratchet tie down help to stabilize the bike rack. Both 1.25 and 2 inch receiver installed with a hitch tightener to reduce the play. For the 1.25 inch receiver, I did not put a lock and just get a 3/8 by 3 inch hex bolt with two nuts plus lock washer.My first run is about 40km away from home with 3 bikes around 90lbs. The whole rack stays quite stable during the trip. Will do a further cross city run next few days and see if this adapter + hitch tightener + ratchet tie down combo will last.

Fits perfectly! The only bad thing is if i flip it so the extention is on top, it hits my bumper. Other than that it's great!
