It’s not car specific. It plugs into your hitch. it will fit on anything with a 2” hitch

I am sorry but I do not understand what you are calling the hitch key. The hitch receiver is the part mounted on the car. My bike rack came with a large bolt and my regular hitch lock for the trailer hitch would not fit through the receiver and rack. Therefore you are forced to use the bolt and nut which is difficult to install and remove. If you managed to get your hitch lock through the hole of the receiver and bike rack it is possibly jammed and you may have to get it cut off. Our perhaps a smaller bolt or chisel can be used to force it through with a large hammer. If you can send a picture perhaps I can understand your predicament better. Good Luck.

Q: does the quick secure straps work well and truly more secure?

They work great and allow for positioning the bikes for maximum usage (five bikes). They are plenty secure and after the first time or two are just as fast as other means of connection.

It’s about a 10” away from hitch edge. 35” tall from bottom of hitch
