Wish I would have bought this one first, excellent sound and workmanship quality - great product
This radio has amazingly good sound quality and station lock in (only tested with FM so far). The build and workmanship quality is so evident. I have bought other radios that were half the cost or less and regret it. They have all failed in one manner or another. This unit is very easy to use and set up. Has more than enough memory sets, is has a large volume control on the left (push buttons) and has a tuning wheel on the right that is like a car blinker where you click up or down or press in. The power button switches mode on short pushes and a long hold down turns off unit. The unit automatically has a 90 minute time to power off too. The sound quality is superior to any other radio like this I have ever had. I pair this with the corded Apple ear buds (I have yet to find anything better than these ear buds). Radio takes two AA batteries and so far it seems like these batteries last a very long time. I have not had this long enough to determine durability, but will over the next month. I use it for exercise and bike riding and will update this post if anything changes. This unit is well worth the extra money....spend you money wisely and once. Thank you to Amazon for making this a Prime item. The unit came packaged well and quickly.

VERY nice pocket radio in the size of a deck of cards
The DT-160 is really easy to get working, out of the box. I am not an audiophile or an AM DXer. I don't care if I get a slight fuzz-out on FM sometimes. I just want to listen to local voice and music radio stations with a reliable signal and decent sound while I am out walking my dogs or strolling around the Champlain Valley in far-northeast upstate NY. This radio is GREAT! It's very lightweight (less mass than a deck of cards) and easily fits in a pocket. I can pick up all of the local AM stations easily and even more FM stations, including one or two from Montreal (60 miles away). The DSP tuning will give you the best of both worlds - excellent selectivity while not sacrificing on sensitivity. Obviously, greater elevation will give you an advantage, but I have no complaints in our little rural city of Plattsburgh. Some folks don't like the headphones, which are the size of pennies and sit in the crook of each ear but I find them comfortable and practical because I am just walking, not bouncing around or doing strenuous exercise. Glad to recommend this product! Bonne chance et bonne réussite

Another good Sangean radio
I'm a fan of Sangean radios in general, and bought the DT-160 to use when traveling. I also own the DT-120 which I use when hiking, biking and exercising. This review will compare the two models. I'm a 90% AM listener so I'll focus on the AM performance rather than FM. The DT-160 has features that are great when traveling. The jog wheel tuning control is convenient and an improvement over their previous radios. The clock (which displays even with the radio off) is handy. But the biggest improvement is the lighted display. It will be lit for several seconds after any control is used and is very welcome when listening in bed with the lights out. The penalties you incur for these features are size and weight. The DT-160 is 101 x 63 x 19 mm vs. 93 x 50 x 14 for the DT-120. 86% larger volume. It is also over twice as heavy: 121.4 vs. 58.3 g (with batteries). This, of course, is due to the design decision to use 2 AA batteries for the DT-160 vs. 1 AAA for the DT-120. This gives the DT-160 much more energy to play with (4.8 A-Hr vs. 1.0 A-Hr for new batteries). The battery selection was no doubt done to provide for a long battery life when using the lighted display, which is the largest current drain for this product. There are things I didn't like about it. There are only 5 AM presets. There is no option for 200 KHz FM tuning steps. 200 KHz station spacing has been standard here in the US for many years, but Sangean (in their other radios also) uses 100 KHz which doubles the number of control inputs needed when tuning across the band. But my biggest disappointment was with AM sensitivity. I took both radios to locations where I normally listen to AM stations under marginal reception conditions and compared them. They were essentially identical. Not bad, mind you, but the same. I was hoping that Sangean would utilize some of the larger internal space in the DT-160 to incorporate a larger ferrite antenna so that AM sensitivity would be improved. Not the case. My best guess is that they use essentially the same antenna and circuitry in both models. I realize that most of my "gripes" are because I like long-distance AM reception. Probably 80% of their customer base only listen to FM and local AM stations. Those folks would no doubt be totally happy. I'm glad I bought it. I enjoy using it when traveling. Just like I really enjoy the small and light DT-120 when outside exercising. Two different design points that both succeed in addressing their intended markets.
