自分の中学生時代、こんな本があったなら!
イラストがカラーでかわいい。読みやすい。私が中学生の頃、この本があったなら、間違いなく愛読書にして、暗記するくらい読んでいたと思う。(って、随分昔の話ですが・・)

PLEASE Do Not Read This To Your Littles Without Doing A Little Research First
I bought this book to read with my ten year old granddaughter and decided to read it myself before I started it with her. Very glad I did!In serious need of a half star option or a NO star option. Just a couple pages in on a time line 1934 is listed as the year that RBG's sister, Marilyn, died. Two pages over another time line lists 1935 as the year that RBG's sister, Marilyn, died. Even though this typo (I'm being generous when I call it a "typo" because I feel more like it was just very poor research!) was just a couple pages in, it wasn't even the first incorrect tidbit. Page three touts, "FACT Harvard didn't allow female students until 1975!".Google that! Harvard Law School first admitted women in 1950 and Harvard Medical School even earlier than that!I do realize this book is aimed at "new readers", however, it seems like the details could have been a little more clear. Chapter 1 makes it sound like WWII started in 1941 instead of clearly stating that 1941 is the date that the US entered WWII. "things in Europe had gotten so horrible that a war had broken out." And, the time line shows "1941 America declares war on Germany". Both of these things, I think, would make "new readers" believe that WWII started in 1941. Not a good historical foundation to send "new readers" forward with!Cover art for the book is super cute and I love the illustrations throughout the book. And, the "flow" of the book is great. But, I still say it deserves NO stars because of some pretty glaring "typos" (?). When you are imparting wisdom to littles every piece of information is a building block to them. To start off with misinfomation at the foundation is to do these littles a grave disservice!

Contains Factual Errors
Would have been a great book if it hadn't contained a number of egregious factual errors.

More appropriate for 3-6th graders
The 3 stars are not based on the quality of the book, but on the book’s description- appropriate for 6-8 year olds or 1-2nd graders.I just bought this book sight unseen for my 6 year old granddaughter. Her mom is a teacher and school librarian. While the book may be a good one, my daughter said it definitely was too difficult for a 1st grader. The book “Dissent”, also about RBG, is a picture book and is a more appropriate book for that age.

Best autobiography books for kids!
Both my daughters adore these books! I did extensive research to find biographies about worthy female remodels our young daughters (6 & 8 years old) could read & learn about. Unlike the “Who Is” series, these “Story of...biography book for new readers” introduces complicated history as non-threatening and accompanied by colorful illustrations. There’s a lovely balance between real facts and life experience. It was enlightening for my 6-year old to read and see how a young RBG juggled education, motherhood and caring for her ill husband. Both my girls can easily read these books independently. They have been glued to them and choose to read them instead of playing with toys. Each night they fall fast asleep with the book in their hands (literally). I hope more of these books are made to include more notable women especially in the fields of zoology, archeology, physics, mathematics, art, design, architecture, writing, film, sports and feminism.
