Fantastic!
This is a fantastic pepper mill. The adjustable ring makes it easy to select your coarseness, and the grind mechanism does a fantastic job of pouring out plenty of perfectly grinder fresh pepper. The function of this mill is outstanding. The only personal preference I could add is, I wish this mill came in a larger size. I like big 15+ inch restaurant mills that fill your hands and you can really get your grind-on! This is a terrific mill, but if they ever make this in a big beautiful restaurant style large mill, I will purchase that one immediately. If you are looking for a quality mill that pours out good doses of freshly cracked black pepper that fanatics like us love, you will love this mill.

Great pepper mill!
My husband got me a short squat silver looking pepper mill with a crank handle grinder on top. He was "sold" this one by an "expert" at Sur la Table. It's awkward to use and a devil to refill - which is OFTEN! He was impressed, I was not. I saw reviews online stating this Cole & Mason pepper mill to be one of the top rated for the price. I got one for my husband several years ago. Everything was as promised, from the ease of filling, to the ease of setting the adjustable grinding, the actual grinds, and the looks and quality. It was all there! Finally, I've ordered the matching Salt Mill and am looking forward to a matched salt and pepper set that has been missing at our table for years! I'm just disappointed the salt mill does not also come with PRIME free shipping. No other store in our area carries it - online anyway. It would take a whole day to search during the holiday season. So a day of searching versus the $6+ shipping cost.

Better than most, not the absolute finest grind though
I had to return another brand that did not work on many fronts. This grinder is good looking, it has a quality mechanism, so they say, and is adjustable. In theory, if grinder quality was overall better in general across the board, this adjustable mechanism would be silly- I have a hand me down grinder from my mother from over 50 years ago that still grinds better, but I needed a second one, so purchased this. It is adjustable, and actually does what is says. It produces a reasonable fine grind, so for that I am grateful. I think unless you are trying it out in person at a specialty store, and can see the way it grinds, this is a good choice. Sadly, you have to spend the money on this simple item. I expect it to last decades now... only time will tell.

After One Month of Use....Loving It
I've been using a spice mill to grind my pepper for some time now, having given up on the many pepper grinders I tried that didn't cut the peppercorn (corny, I know) or didn't last more than a few months. We'll see how it stands the test of time, but I love the way this grinder performs! There is a noticeable difference in the size of the pepper pieces at each setting. Adjusting the grind is a snap, or two or three - literally. The grinder seems to be well built and looks great in the kitchen or on a formal table. I pretty much love it. If it doesn't last though, I'll update my review.

Literally life changing
I'm new to the (apparently very active) ground pepper community. Before this I used a $5 all in one pepper grinder that wasn't refillable. I realized this after I bought peppercorns to refill it, otherwise I probably would have bought the exact same one again....but thank goodness I didn't! This has changed everything. Thoroughly enjoy cooking, and I do it 7 days a week. I used to feel obligated to add pepper, but now I want to. The grind size lets pepper stand out in cooking, or choose a smaller grind for garnish. Had no issues refilling this, the quality feels great, and will never go back to cheap plastic grinders.

Great quality and grinds a lot of pepper
No fiddly nut to unscrew, the top just press-fits on for easy removal and refilling. The grind is what I would expect. Not too fine or coarse for the settings and it grinds a good amount of pepper so you don’t have to take 100 turns to get what you need… even if you’re making something like caccio e peppe that requires a ton of pepper

The best pepper grinder I've ever owned
This is a great grinder. The steel grinding mechanism works beautifully. At each of the six settings, the grind size is consistent. Each turn of the knob produces an ample volume of pepper. The lift-off knob makes it easy to fill. (The steel nut on top is only decorative, not functional.) Thank you Cole & Mason, for a superior grinder that is also quite reasonably priced.

quality pepper grinder 101
I bought this to replace the plastic pepper grinders we used to buy. This looks so much nicer, feels good in the hand and turns pleasingly smooth. I love the coarseness options, there are six. I tried unsuccessfully to unscrew the metal knob at the top to refill the peppercorns but it actually just pulls off, lol. No instructions on that were included but I figured it out. ; -)
