Perfect for rehabbing an ankle sprain
Just a quick word about sprains: there are long-term risks associated with sprains, including chronic pain and reinjury, that will only be exacerbated by a missed diagnosis or poor rehab. Self-diagnosing and buying a brace to avoid a trip to the doctor might be attractive in the short-term, but I would still recommend seeing a physician. And if you are rehabbing a sprain, remember that a stabilizer is not a substitute for continued therapy and rehabilitation exercises! Keep doing those exercises. Now, that being said, I am rehabbing a sprain myself, and after a little research I found that studies have suggested that the lace-up ankle brace is the superior option for supporting your ankle during rehabilitation following a sprain. This ASO brace has worked great for me over the past month. I started using it after a few days of immobilization with a walking boot. It's easy to take on and off and comes with clear instructions to help you through that first time. It can take a few tries to get that just-right fit, but it's highly adjustable; I've always been able to achieve a good fit with a little tweaking. It offers a lot of support without being overly restrictive; I'm still able to perform normal movements but it helps to keep me from overextending the joint. It's not burdensome to wear and I don't even notice it most of the time. It's easy to fit into an athletic shoe after a little adjusting of the shoelaces. Due to the layered construction and the material, it doesn't "breathe" a ton but I haven't noticed it being particularly hot, even while playing tennis in >100° heat. I can wear it around the house all day without breaking a sweat, but wearing it without a sock can help keep you cool. Conveniently, it can be washed in a washing machine but must be air-dried.After a month of use, it shows no signs of wear and the black color has held up well. I honestly don't really have any complaints. I picked this particular lace-up based on the excellent reviews and reasonable price and it has held up to my expectations. (This product was NOT provided to me for free and/or on an evaluation basis.)

I'm about one week out from an ankle sprain, so I purchased this to support my ankle as it heals. However, it may be too soon for this type of brace, as my bruising and swelling is still dissipating, so I can't pull the laces too tight or wrap the velcro too tight or it cuts off the circulation in my foot and leg. Will go back to a compression brace for now and post an updated review later. My feeling is this will be good if one has to walk a lot or return to activities, but perhaps it limits movement too much for proper healing; that is, I like to sit at my desk and do the rehab exercises like turning my foot in a circle, writing the alphabet etc - to prevent scar tissue from forming as my ankle heals, but this brace prevents that kind of movement. So I'll use it when I'm moving about, but undo it when sitting. Also, for reference - I'm a women's shoe size 7 and purchased a Small size - there is bunching of material in the heel area and I can't close it with the ASO logo in the front (but it still closes fine).

Overall great ankle brace
I have been playing basketball recreationally for over four years. A few months ago I sprained my ankle after I landed on someone's foot from a rebound. As a result, I began to look for an ankle brace. After a lot of research, I chose to buy the ASO Ankle Stabilizer and am very satisfied with this purchase. The ankle brace itself can be adjusted to make it tighter or more loose depending on your foot size, so foot size will not effect the fit too much. I purchased a medium and I wear size 9.5-10 shoes and the fit is perfect. Although the stability is great, there is not as much mobility as I would like. It is similar to wearing a high top basketball shoe. I play the point guard position and need a lot of mobility, which is why I took off a star. However, overall a great ankle brace with a great price. I have used this for football as well, and will continue to use this brace for a while.

A little weak in the achilles area, but a good buy all the same.
I bought this brace as a transition from an orthopedic boot to regular shoes after suffering several partial tears in my achilles. It has worked well. It does give my ankle support. I think specifically for achilles tendon issues it does not give as much support in that specific area as I would have liked, but it was the best one I have found anywhere. I have spoken to a medical supplies, a physical therapist, the pharmacist as well as an orthopedic surgeon. They had nothing better to offer. I have been pleased, but not thrilled. It gives me enough support through the ankle to help with the transition. I would recommend it.

Great brace, I like the support it gives despite fact I should've ordered a larger size.. I had a bad fall, no break. I got this before I went to ER. Ordered x-s due to same day delivery and came as ordered. However, I would have done better with a medium (women's size 8 shoe, usually thin ankles) - using it over a sock and ace bandage. Am able to work the straps since it is Velcro and adjustable. Did end up going to er and they gave me with air cast. I just started using this again after a week and like the support during the recovery. I'll update after I'm done with the ace bandage on the fit. Think I'll be using if for a few weeks after the ace is off for that extra support to avoid re-injury.
