I'm no electrical engineer, but when you put a battery in your emergency radio, you don't want it to CAUSE an emergency. I put it in, and almost immediately smelled fire. The battery had gotten disturbingly hot in a matter of seconds. I checked the wiring against the battery it was replacing- the black and red wires were reversed. Everything else about the batteries were identical. Well, that and the first one never caught on fire.

Although I had read other reviews suggesting this battery would not work, I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt anyway. I could not have been more wrong. The battery plugged in fine, however, once I turned my device on this awful smell had started to fill the air. It was the smell of a burning battery (which also was hot to the touch). Perhaps, as others have stated, the wires were crossed on the battery and that was what caused the burning smell. I did not want to take the chance of dismantling the packaging and rearranging the wires and I had requested a replacement battery. Hoping that it was perhaps just the wires getting crossed I had a replacement sent out and they were batting 2/2. The battery did not work and the same smell was released from the 2nd battery. I had then shipped out both batteries for a return. Both items were sent back and received within a few days and no refund had been sent. It was then after the 2 week normal period for returns that I contacted Amazon for help. Amazon informed me that they had both items and received them shortly after I had sent them out. Luckily, the customer service rep had immediately sent over a refund. All in all 0.00000/5 stars. The whole process was a mess from start to finish and in the end it actually cost me money to ship out the battery so it was a lost cause. Could not be more disappointed.

Exact (actually improved) replacement for the original! The polarity and voltage is perfectly correct for the Grundig FR200! Sorry for all the folks who blew up their radios and batteries because they bought what looks like the same thing but didn't pay attention to the polarity!

I bought this for my C Crane Observer, but it's backwards. It was easy to fix though, either splice the old receptacle on or take an emery board and sand it down a bit and it fits just fine. I'm back in business with my trusted old radio once again.

I ordered this battery as a replacement for my ETON radio. I didn't check the new battery out carefully enough. The polarity of the lead was reversed from the original battery. Smelled smoke right away, so I pulled the battery. Looking at the lead, it was clearly reversed. I swapped the pin position in the plug, and it has worked fine ever since.
