Bought Not New, Was Not Accurate enough, sent it back.
I bought this Testo 608-H1 Moisture / Temperature Sensor (Hygrometer with Thermometer) not new, but used. The price of the new one was about 67 dollars, and the price of the used one was about 17 dollars, a big difference in prices. It was written about the unit which I was buying "Used like New," and indeed, when I received the device, the face of the device was covered with a thin film, and the 9-volts battery which came with the device, was new, unpacked. There were all (I think) papers in the box, and although the box was damaged, but it was written in the description of the unit that the box will be damaged, so I knew that in advance. Well, I decided to test the device using the Boveda 75% RH (relative humidity) test. The hygrometer was too big to put it inside the Boveda kit, so I bought an OXO POP container of a small size, which is an airtight container, put the hygrometer and the Boveda pack inside that container, and waited for 24 hours. If the hygrometer were in the condition of the perfect calibration, it would show 75% RH at the end of the test. Instead, the hygrometer was showing 70.4% RH. Now, the hygrometer came with the Certificate of Conformity, showing that (when it was at the factory, I think), it was tested at 12% RH, 43.8% RH, and 73.1% RH, and its accuracy at these relative humidities was +0.1% RH, -0.3% RH, and +0.3% RH, respectively. So when it was made, its inaccuracy, according to these tests, was not more that 0.3% RH, so it was an extremelly accurate hygrometer! How did it happen that the hygrometer lost its accuracy, and that its inaccuracy at the time of the Boveda test which I made became -4.6% RH, I do not know, but 4.6% is even bigger that the stated in specificatons of this hygrometer inaccuracy (+ or -) 3% RH. And the hygrometer cannot be calibrated manually, so I sent it back. This, however, tells nothing about the new (not used) Testo 608-H1 hygrometers, so I suggest before buying this hygrometer - read all the reviews available on Amazon.com.
