MORTAL KOMBAT GAME GEAR
I like the MORTAL KOMBAT series from day one in the arcades. I spent hundreds of quarters playing it back then. So i decided to try a portable oldschool MK game. This port is a very good game. Which plays just like the consule games. Only thing about it i (DO NOT) like is they left out a character. So one is missing, that truly is a bummer for me about this game. Other than that fact it's awesome. It gets a 4 out of 5 from me.

A great port for a handheld
Mortal Kombat, like any game, would happen to have multiple versions of itself. It is even ported onto the Sega Master System, the Game Gear, and the Game Boy.They are all the same game, but they differ by music and color. The Game Boy version, however, suffered from one fatal flaw: The slow gameplay. The gameplay is REEEAALLLLYYY slow.Thankfully, the Master System and Game Gear versions didn't have that problem, making them playable. The gameplay is pure one-on-one fighting fun, although without the blood and gore. There are only 6 characters, unfortunately, so if you are a person who plays as Johnny Cage often or someone else that dropped out, then this is bad news for you.The graphics are great and they almost match the arcade game's graphics style....kinda.So after you fight several enemies, you would later fight a mirror version of your character. After that, you begin to fight one person after another. That will happen 3 times before you fight the final enemy. This makes the game stand out from the crowd. There are 3 difficulty modes: Easy, Normal, and Hard, so everybody can have a shot at it.Overall, this is a good game that you should purchase for your Game Gear. Or maybe you can get a Master System version, instead. Don't get the Game Boy version, though. I'm warning you.

mortal kombat still reigns supreme after all this time on the game gear
Mortal kombat for the game gear i was the first game i got when i got my game gear. And believe me the graphics were good for back then but in the game gear kano wasn't in the lineup of characters. And game boy didn't have Johnny cage in theirs. And Plus their was blood in the game gear beings it's color so i just can't pick one beings that in the game boy version you can be guru. So it's a tie.

ALOT better than Gameboy's crappy version
This was a pretty good verison of MK1.It had the blood and the gore, via a simple cheat code plus it's gameplay and sounds were decent too. This was such a better portable version of the game, than what Nintendo put out on their Gameboy. The graphics on here still look pretty good, although they are not perfect. But this is Game Gear.Only negative thing,is this version is missing Kano.Overall, this is a good portable version of MK1.Pick this up along with MK II,if you own a Game Gear.
