SAPHIRMedaille d'Or Sole Guard – Conditioner & Protector Oil for Leather Shoes

Before treatment, both pair of shoes sat in my closet for years and the footbeds, even though they have been broken in and conformed to the contours of my feet, were very hard and dry,. I did not have the heart to get rid of them. After several application, each with proper drying times, both pair of shoes became softer and comfortable to wear The first pair are early 1970’s US Army oxfords. The second are all leather 1970’s Mason Chelsea shoes that were bought from my uncle, a sales attendant at the Mason Shoes store, in Chippewa Falls, WI, which is the original home of the company. I have not used other competitor products for comparison, but I can vouch for Saphir Sole Guard to restore the life of leather footbeds. Some online instructions said to use the product sparingly which I did several time, otherwise one only need to use it at most twice a year. Although expensive, it is worth it and it extends the life of leather shoes. Today’s disposal culture has lost how truly leather shoes can be so comfortable.

It is a bit pricey, but wanted to make my boots looking good. It is just one of several products I purchased to make my boots look almost new. I applied it several times, the worn leather soles drank it up. I applied it three times and let each application dry before the next coat.

Excellent product line

Good quality of product, no smell, soft, works well and it is worth to buy.

while giving the impression it will protect the sole from all sorts of damage, it only serves to waterproof. Very difficult to protect the leather soles without additional material to place on top. However it is good quality as it has no unpleasant odor, applies easily with a cotton cloth and dries relatively quickly. Be warned though, it will stain clothes quite strongly despite being mostly colorless. Also glass bottle can be broken but feels well made along with cap.sole feels no less supple and there's no change in appearance of the sole once dried
