Surgeons are NOT nutritionists. Consult this publication in order for a fast and relatively pain free recovery.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this little book for anyone about to have gallbladder removal. I had my gallbladder removed and there was no valid after care/recovery effort on the part of the surgeons' office full of medical professionals. As a matter of fact, the information they did provide me was all wrong and caused me so much pain and distress. I didn't receive the book until a couple of weeks into recovery, and by following just a few of the suggestions I noticed an enormous amount of relief almost immediately. If a loved one is going to have this procedure, you will save them a lot of misery and show how much you care if you provide them with this slim, easy-to-read, and well substantiated book!!!

My Story !!! UPDATED
This is a great and informative book that covers the suffering some of us post-gallbladder patients go through. I could identify with about 85% of the book and I really appreciated the helpful information. The humor (might be slightly offensive to some - but it's the truth!) helped as I felt like I was reading my auto-biography. Thanks to the author for sharing. My recommendation to anyone is DO ANYTHING YOU CAN TO SAVE YOUR GALLBLADDER - you just don't realize ahead of time how miserable life can be without it (much worse than pre-surgery), and now I'm stuck for the long haul!UPDATE: March 2017 Almost 5 yrs. post surgery - PLEASE do anything you can to keep your gallbladder. You have it for a reason and if you're like me your body will not want to be without it. Fatty liver can develop along with many other issues including a multitude of digestive disorders. There are consequences to removing a body organ and I'm still suffering for it. Do you think you could remove a lung and not feel it? The gallbladder is no different. It serves a critical purpose. PLEASE, can I say it again, PLEASE go to a doctor who wants to keep your body intact.

Good resource; worth the price if you are facing gallbladder surgery
I purchased this for my Kindle when I received a diagnosis of gallbladder disease. I had gallstones, but also inflammation, and this book gave me information to have a more informed discussion with my surgeon. It has been a bit over a week since I had the surgery, and I still refer to this guide as my body goes through the changes to readjust to life without the gallbladder. The one thing I can say the author does well is remind you to get tested for things...if you have pain or bowel issues or whatever...talk to your doctor about the tests he lists and get them done! It can be easy for the doctor to say "it is just part of healing" and maybe it is, but this book gives you great suggestions of tests so that you can be sure your body is doing well. Good book, well worth the price.

FINALLY, THE TRUTH!
I wish had read this book first. I read several “gall bladder” books while facing the removal of my gall bladder. While the other books were helpful with suggestions to improve my diet, this is the ONLY one that prepared me for what I would likely be facing after my gall bladder is gone. The author is brutally honest, but uses humor to lessen the blow. He then provides some possible solutions to the unpleasant side effects of losing your gall bladder. I’m having my surgery today, and now I feel much more prepared and have a plan to handle my post-op condition. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!

Very helpful info
Since diagnosed with a malfunctioning GB, I've been doing my homework to try and get it working again. It's too soon to know yet, but things have improved and they say it takes several months and the information in this book and one other I acquired have helped me to put together a protocol that seems to be moving in the right direction. Only time will tell. Hopefully can update at some future point.I would recommend this book to anyone who is either lost their GB already or having GB problems. If I'd only known years ago I should have been helping my liver and GB with certain herbs I most likely wouldn't be in this predicament now.

Very Informative
Starting out from the introduction, the first few chapters are more like reading a hospital chart, big words and some stuff i cant even pronounce, But with that said, the book does break things down in layman terms, gives some fantastic ideas and information of just what the do's and don'ts are, what to look out for and how to reach the best outcome. WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND WELL WRITTEN!!!

Fatalistic view
I really did not like this book as it made it seem like you should NEVER have your GB removed if you have a choice. My boyfriend was preparing for surgery, it went great and he is pretty much back to normal. I have two friends who had theirs out years ago and neither one have any dietary restrictions. My boyfriend is slowing adding foods back in and has no problems tolerating foods with fat so far. The book makes it seem like your life is going to be miserable after the surgery and you better buy black underwear. I feel like I wasted my money on this one, live and learn.

A disappointing book
I had my gallbladder removed and bought this book. The author doesn’t give any helpful tips apart from taking ox bile. The book was a waste of money.
