Excellent book on IoT and Edge Computing
Excellent resource. As someone indicated, there is a significant focus on the network details but given the topic, I think that's fair. Recommended for people who already have solid IT experience and want to understand more about IoT and Edge Computing.

Edge decision making
This is a comprehensive read on the need for Edge compute with the growing number of sensors producing large numbers of data that needs to be acted upon where it is being created so immediate decisions could be made. Well articulated use cases and comprehensive background for both solution architects and product managers

Great effort - but focusing on network layer architecture (vs cloud layer)
I was given a review copy of this book by the publisher. The book is a very comprehensive effort for IoT architecture. It covers almost all topics you can think of from the network layer. However, its not so comprehensive from the Cloud perspective. Today(Apr 2020) - the Cloud APIs (ex Azure, AWS, GCP etc) would play a key part in the design of an IoT solution(and also would abstract the network layer through cloud APIs). The book does mention Azure but only briefly. Thus, in my view, its a great coverage of IoT architecture from a network perspective (at which it excels) but not from a cloud perspective.

Comprehensive reference for all IoT professionals
The author does an excellent job breaking down the necessary components that are relevant to the IoT industry. Could an architect, engineer or technical manager get this information from the web? Yes, but the author saves your valuable time by covering a large breadth of technical knowledge at just the right (to me) detail needed to make decisions. An excellent balance of topics covered and just the right detail. My only nit-pick are the graphic illustrations. They are somewhat low quality and inconsistent, but they are useful to gaining understanding of the specific topics.Overall, as a 30+ year computer engineer, manager, director and VP, I highly recommend this book and look forward to future updates.David Paul

Structured and concise presentation of the subject.
The author presents in a structured and concise plain English all the areas for the IoT architect to consider from endpoints to cloud. Very well documented with scarce, if at all, errata. Immaculate usage of plain English to describe difficult technical subjects without denoting them to over-simplicity. Suitable for all levels of IoT enthusiasts: the uninitiated, the initiated and the technology experts, all can benefit from reading it. May also be used as a handbook of technical subjects for an IoT architect to study and implement in a project according to the given guidelines. It is the second Packt book I have read so far and I'm completely satisfied with the overall investment I made in both time and money.

No protection inside the cardboard box
The book looks very good. However I was surprised that it did not come with plastic inside the cardboard, what damaged a little bit the book and makes me wonder if it was really new.
