Can't stay away from these
Having grown up on Dutch Licorice (yes, I'm half+ Dutch), I very much enjoy Dutch Licorice. I order these by the kilogram. When a bag arrives, the soft chewy, slightly sweet salty drops lasts just a few weeks. First it's 5 dropjes, then 10, then 20 down the hatch. When the bag is empty, I give myself a month or so before ordering the next kilogram. Been through 5 bags so far. So yes, if you like salty sweet Dutch Licorice, these are a treat.Warning: Eat too much and the number on the bathroom scale creeps up. LOL

Flavor
The buttons have a different taste than I was expecting. They are ok, but don't taste like licorice.

Just right if you love hard chewy licorice... which I do...
I bought two kinds of these, one from Germany (coin) and these. Both are great. You get everything you always wanted in a hard chew licorice candy... But if you're diabetic... limit youself. They're hard to stop eating and your feet will be numb the next morning if you don't control yourself.

DO NOT BUY!!!!’
It is vile. It smells almost as bad as it tastes. It was very expensive and I want a refund! It is truly disgusting and should be zero stars but I had to mark a star

Not the licorice I thought it would be
Our community of black licorice lovers has been searching for a substitute for the Heide hard black licorice buttons for many years. Heide was sold in department store candy counters and candy stores across the country since the late 1800s and also made popular gummy candies such as Jujyfruits.Unfortunately, Heide died and his son sold the company to Hershey in 1995 and stopped production of the delicious black licorice buttons. Farley's & Sathers acquired the business from Hershey in 2001 but elected not to resume black licorice production (booooooo! hisssss!)These buttons superficially resemble the Heide buttons (although they have a matte finish instead of a polished shine). They are much softer in texture and taste pretty much like the standard licorice drops or whips you would find in a grocery store. That's not to say they're bad--quite the contrary, they're a very good example of a standard soft black licorice--but they're just not the unique and delicious Heide flavor.Ah well. The search continues.
