Liked it so Well I Bought One For My Daughter
I am new to Raw but bought several cookbooks. This one is perfect for me. Some of the recipes in other cookbooks are either nothing more than salad or have ingredients that mean running all over to find. This is perfect. The ingredients don't mean running to a speciality store, or just having a salad. Easy to make, good flavor and my health is feeling so much better.

Make sure you own a food dehydrator or most of this book is worthless
I purchased this recipe book in an effort to help me expand my raw/clean eating horizons. Everything in this book is very straight forward and easy to follow, however, one of the things I wish I knew in advance is that you need a dehydrator for many of the recipes!! I have a gas oven and a full time job...so running my oven at a low temp for 8 hours to dehydrate food items is just not an option for me. I'm now looking into purchasing my own dehydrator as having one seems like a pretty valuable kitchen item when you're trying to eat raw, but for now this sits on my shelf with other under utilized cookbooks.

Really good recipes for the raw foodie.
I've tried several of her recipes and have not been disappointed. For the most part, the recipes are fairly straight forward as far as raw food goes (meaning, lots of preparation and time). I really enjoyed the sauces, patties, and entrees. I think raw soups are the easiest to make, while anything requiring dehydration will be the most time consuming. When I ate raw for 3 months, I swear I lost like 10 pounds, and was not regularly exercising. I was not hungry and I felt really good with my chronic allergy symptoms lessening significantly. The problem, it is difficult to maintain, especially when you are busy, and therefore we could not maintain this. Some of the flavors in these recipes take a little getting used to. My husband is really open minded and liked everything, I was a little more picky.

no index
This cookbook has no index! I want to be able to look in a cookbook's index to be able to easily find every recipe containing a given ingredient. For instance, I may have chia seeds, and want to look over recipes that call for them, to see what I might like to make. The pages with the recipes printed on them are colorful - it's pretty, but it would be easier to read if they were black text on a white page, or something similarly high-contrast.The introduction includes nonsense like "Enzymes are the living proteins that direct the life force [etc.]," which I personally find a turnoff.

Great variety of unique recipes
A great variety of unique recipes from snacks, drinks, breakfasts, main dishes, salads to desserts. I also found the section on helpful hints to be just that - very helpful especially on using a dehydrator e.g. rotating shelves, calibrating the temperatures, starting off at higher temperature for a short period of time to reduce dehydration time and minimize bacteria growth etc. etc.As someone mentions to produce many of the recipes it would be very useful to have a food processor, blender and dehydrator. In general if you want to do raw in general you really need some of these kitchen tools. The book was a great deal on Amazon and reads well on the Kindle.

WOW!
I love this book! I have it on my kindle but wish I had purchased the hard copy because I like to write notes in cookbooks. Every recipe I tried from the book has been absolutely delicious, and I can't wait to try the others! It's so exciting to try new recipes I have never had before, such as dehydrated breads, and have them turn out so tasty. I'm hooked on raw food as long as it tastes as good as the recipes in this book! Now I look forward to buying the author's other books.

if Paula Deen went raw vegan....
I think anyone would agree that the base of the raw food pyramid should consist of vegetables, greens, sprouts (not sprouted grains or sprouted nuts), sea vegetables, fruits, etc. At the very top of the pyramid, would be nuts and sprouted grains This author uses nuts and sprouted grains in everything, and I don't mean as an accompanying accent, I mean most of these recipes are nut or grain based. Don't misunderstand me, nuts are fantastic - I eat them multiple times a day. So too, are sprouted grains. But, at the core of the raw diet are vegetables, not vegetables smothered in nut creams and nut sauces. This book was a huge disappointment for me because I kind of like her blog. I eat at least a 50% raw food diet, so I am not new to this. Further, my diet is extremely high in fat, so I'm not at all against fat. But, this book smothers every vegetable in some sort of nut cream. Even the photography makes the food look smothered - all the photos are close-up shots, because you need to get super close to find the vegetables under a mountain of other stuff.I've made a few of the main course recipes, and they were ok, but below average - no unique flavor combinations or use of herbs and spices. There are many typos in this book, and no index. If you are accustomed to the standard american diet, then this might be a doable alternative. However, the recipe instructions are lacking, so if you are new to raw food prep, you might encounter issues. But in the end, find a better recipe book, or go to her blog, because this book totally misses the point and spirit of a raw, plant-based diet.

OK for committed raw foodists
Maybe three stars is not fair, as it is probably a really good intro to what raw food is all about. This is a book for those already committed to the raw food way, as just about all the recipes rely on the use of a dehydrator. Unfortunately, it only served to put me off, as I don't want to spend over £150 on a dehydrator, when I just want too try out a few recipes to see if I like the food.

AMAZING RAW
I've used these recipes ever since I received it. I wish she had more hard copy books available as I printed out two of her digital books from her site and it took a whole ink cartridge and ended up being very expensive. Susan Powers has the best collection of raw food recipes of all the ones I have bought thus far.
