A bit too bright and metallic for my violin
Unfortunately not currently impressed with these stingsBought to replace some aged strings having picked up the violin after a good few years absence ...Perhaps I require further time to bed them in (it's been nearly weeks now) but unfortunately they still sound very (very) shrill, harsh with a high metallic reverberation over-tones - and go out of tune quicklyThey currently sound tinny and unpleasant. The E is by far the worst (Although the G isn't too bad and the D is tolerable) they also feels like you're pressing down on sharp cheese-wire, I don't press very hard, but the strings have dug into my finger :(My Violin is an old yet reasonable quality (it's by no means fantastic) violin which I feel are probably better with warmer sounding strings - which I've realised only having tried these! (It's fairly loud therefore sharp notes bounce round your head like a nasty toothache) - these are too 'bright' and metallic, and almost sound like a little metal bell is singing afterwards... not the sound I'm currently after.Appreciate I've been absent for a while and my intonation needs to return to what it once was, as does all my techniques - but I know when it doesn't sound right and these don't.These strings might be great for some violins, be aware that being steel core they may be a bit too bright. For those considering new strings it might be worth doing a web search about 'choosing violin strings' as there are a number of sites giving overviews of each brand type and the tones to be expected - you will know your violin (or if not your teacher may be better equipped to advise) to determine whether these will work well. But for around the £13 mark it might be worth a punt to replace the even cheaper versions on newer student violins, or for those looking for a higher sounding tone to their violin.... Worst case you'll recognise, like me, that these style of strings aren't suitable to your particular instrument.

Describe these properly please
They arrived very promptly. There was nothing on the package to say the strings were metal. Nothing to say they were ball ended. I had hoped that the D and A strings would be gut, not metal, and I don't know if I can use them on my violin. Description on the website was OK, but I won't buy them again.

Tuneful
Daughter had broken a string on her violin. This was just what she needed with spares

Could be a lot better.
These strings have no where near the durability of the Pirastro Tonica strings. My daughter snapped her A during tuning and the threaded peg ends of the strings seems vulnerable. I wont spend money on these in future.
