A breeze
Super easy to use, not flimsy, they've got good threading, good knurling, easy solder rings, the ground and retention tab is nice and flexible but thick with heavy gold plating. The insulators between the rings were highly resistant to heat, the only mark I even left was from direct contact with a very hot tip, even then it was practically nothing. I went ahead and cut into one to see how good the plating was and it's quite heavy. I needed to rebuild a 5-pin TRRRS and this did the job perfectly. I've got somewhat better signal now than when the cable was OEM. When I sealed up the job, I found I was able to flood the shroud with hot PVA and clamp it down before it set, holding the connections inside nicely, 2 dabs on the other side and a pass with a torch and the job was complete and strain relief was in place. I sprayed the connector with isopropyl alcohol, waited a few seconds, and was able to release the shroud again to access the inside. Easy peasy.

Good fit, non magnetic and solder points are of normal size.
I see people saying they are experts and they are hard to solder as the solder points are smaller than normal. What? They are basically normal and you want something small, do some work on 2.5mm or Hirose connectors. They are non magnetic, no central pin of steel, which is very good. Great price.Found one was bad. These are TRRRS. The last R and S (Sleeve often used for ground) was shorted with the last R (ring). So I paid for 2 and got 1 that was good.

Incredibly tiny solder points, but they do work
I can't fault the item too hard because it is a very small connector, however, soldering any wire to the pads is extremely difficult because of how small they are. I ruined the first connector trying to solder it myself. I almost had it finished, but then the plastic started melting between the contacts and the whole thing shorted. I took the second one to my friend who is much better at soldering. It took him about 1.5 hours to solder the 5 wires and he was afraid he had also melted the plastic too much and there was going to be a short. After continuity testing and realizing there was some shorting, he de-soldered the whole thing and tried again, after wicking up all the old solder. Another hour later and it was finally together and working. These plugs do work and are a good deal if you want to make your own balanced cables, but you need to be excellent at soldering and be prepared to spend a lot of time getting everything just right to put it together.

Experts only
I've assembled numerous audio cables in every jack type, and two Bottlehead headphone amp kits successfully. These connectors are without a doubt the most difficult thing I've ever soldered. The solder points, as other reviews noted, are very tiny (even by 4.4 connector standards) and for some strange reason the plug no insulator sleeve to keep the bare wires from touching the metal boot. I used Teflon plumber's tape to insulate things after I finished soldering. That said, these do work (and for some reason 4.4 plugs are really hard to find right now, which is why I bought these). Just be sure you know what you're doing, keep a steady hand, and check everything for continuity.
