Game Changer for Cleaning / Water Changes
This makes cleaning the tank and water changes so much easier! I bought one for my 55g freshwater tank and after seeing me use it, my husband got one for his 90g saltwater tank.My only complaint is that the bag doesn't do a great job of capturing the yuck when cleaning the gravel. I did stuff some sponge filter in the bag which helped some. Overall, very happy with this kit!

Powerful and versatile!
This gravel vac has several configurations and different ways to use it. What I found most useful in my setups are the vacuum and pump attachments. There are some other attachments that would be best suited for a bare bottom tank (which I don’t have).Gravel Vac:The gravel vac worked great on my substrate that is “pea gravel” but I didn’t use it on my sand bedded tanks as the sand grains are too small and would get sucked up into the pump motor. If you have a gravel bed, this should work great for you to do a good vacuuming. There is a sponge inside the vacuum attachment however I found that it worked really well without it. The diameter of my old vac is a bit wider and I found that the Hygger vacuum fit in between rocks, driftwood, etc much better. Also, the bag that the vacuum discharges into tended to fall off after much use but a rubber band held it on great!I also found that the pump attachment was very handy. It allows the handle to sit upright on a small base. I have emptied a 55g and a 29g tank - both extremely quickly and have also used it to speed up water changes. The included hose although long enough to reach a bucket, was not long enough to reach a drain however I found that my manual siphon hose attaches to the Hygger which allows me to reach my drains.A few words of caution...First, when you’re done and remove it from the tank, regardless of which attachment you’re using, be prepared to have a bucket close by to put it in as it will leak water out of it. I hold it above my tank to let it drain and then put it immediately into a bucket.Second, if you’re using this for water changes, remember the pump sits at the BOTTOM of the tank. It’s really easy to empty your tank completely if you’re not paying attention!I’ve used a couple battery operated gravel vacs and I was never happy Witt their power. This one plugs into the wall and is much stronger!Overall, this gravel vac works very well for my purposes in the fish room.

bad design, waste for me, went back to my old siphon
So I got this because I was excited about the idea of having an electric pump instead of the siphon. I bought a pedal switch to go with this. So for me it was a pedal I press to create suction, take my foot off it stops. It would just suck up stuff off the bottom of the tank and in theory it would make it easier to do water changes and so on. But that's in large part because I didn't really understand good methodology for how to clean gravel with the siphon. (where you pinch the hose so rocks/sand fall but the fish poo floats up and is captured when you resume). I have a great siphon system, just kind of a straight tube with the hose. This thing I'm reviewing, the AQQA Aquarium Gravel Cleaner Kit, this thing has the actual motorized part the big bulky thing, right down where you'd have to put it under the water. It's bulky, it's in the way, it's weird, and it has this system where you can hook up like a little bag and like like recycle the water kind of like if you just trying to do a cleaning without the full water change. WTF this thing deleted my whole rant about how the filter gets clogged instantly! Anyway I'll likely never use it again.

Excellent but Some Caveats to Know
I consider myself above average in the arena of difficult furniture assembly. So, if you’re not- you’re probably going to send this back. I’ll load a video later with some instructions on how to use. I have a 75 gallon freshwater tank with a sand bottom.Good:-mine didn’t leak and had great suction.- The handle made it easy to use without getting my hands in the water.- The drain hose is flexible and was easy to stick inside my drain hose to drain directly outside. It was quick: about 8 minutes to remove 20%.Bad:- the instructions are trash, literally. Just throw it away. No useful diagram and I actually used a video review from the reviews to figure it out. Still took me almost 30 minutes to figure out the connection on the bottom so I could the attachments.- it is NOT a sand cleaner. That’s a lie and if you attempt it, it will immediately start sucking your sand up too. Toss it out with the “manual”-also, toss out the little black sponges that go into the clear piece. They are also trash. Immediate blockage and prevent the gunk from going any further. As soon as you turn it off, it falls back into the tank.-hold the wand at about a 45 degree angle and just lightly brush the sand. (I feel like gravel would be heavier and may not need this.)-the “shower curtain return” is super weird and bulky…it would’ve been better as a straight price so it doesn’t bump into everything…I’m trying to figure out a modification.-the power cord needs about 5 more foot. I may add a small extension to get the length.-cord isn’t grounded which is concerning, Water and electricity need a grounded plug.Overall, I am not sending it back and I cleaned the whole tank. Trial and error and some patience and it was good but I nearly lost my mind trying to figure out how to attach the attachments.I’ll update again to let you know it holds up and some helpful assembly videos
