Well made fan
I chose this fan because of the external backdraught system this was essential due to the storms we have had this year and in this unit you can see if it's open or closed. Well made unit, the timer module is simple to insert and the whole fan body was one part which allowed for easy fitting to the existing duct. 2 screws attached it to the ceiling and electric connections were standard screw down connectors. One fitted the backdraught cover simply twists on and is secured by a captive screw, not problems. In operation it's quiet and works a treat opening and closing perfectly. Nature provided a useful test with yet another storm and the anti backdraught worked well. In my opinion a good unit.

Not the cheapest but good neat design and well made
If you like the idea of a neat automatice cover opening when the fan is on and closing when it's off this is for you. Hides all that nasty dark fan internals and yucky black fluff!

Good idea, but has a fair few issues.
Like others, I bought this fan because of its iris shutter design. It was purchased to replace an existing extractor that had become noisy and had no shutters at all within its design. The lack of shutters meant a draught when the wind blew and caused a "pull" that you could feel in the whole house. So having seen one of these working in my Sister's house, it seemed to answer all the concerns and had no problem when deciding on which of the few shutter design extractors to go for.You buy this basic unit and it is an on/off fan with the power supply fed to it. So if you have a run-on timer unit, you will not get a run-on until you purchase the run-on timer module which is another £20 or so. In a way it's good because you're not buying something you may not need, but it would be good if the design of these modules were up to date (more on this later). Various modules are available; run-on, delay start and run-on, pull cord, movement sensing and humidistat. You choose the module you want and fit it in seconds. For your information, this is what happens without a module:1 - turn on the light, the fan starts but the shutter remains closed for 30 seconds.2 - After 30 seconds, the iris begins to open.3 - The iris takes around 30 seconds to open.4 - Turn off the light the fan stops.5 - Approx 60 seconds later the iris begins to close.6 - The iris takes around 30 seconds to close. So if this unit is used in a WC, the iris is unlikely to open fully before a "quick visit" is over and done with!Without the run-on timer, a "longer visit" will not be (shall we say) adequately ventilated!I ordered just the fan to begin with, it worked as above and eventually I decided to order a run-on timer. Prior to fitting the timer, it worked fine, but after fitting the fan made a grinding noise. I'm not sure where from, but no amount of adjustment to the timer or the wiring routing made a difference. After a half and hour of jiggling around with the shroud, I finally silenced it, but I can only assume fitting the timer pushes or pulls something out of flat. But now it's working perfectly and have no reason to believe it will not continue to do so.4 stars overall as it works well out of the box.3 stars for ease of installation. Given because I still believe if something is too difficult to install for the DIY minded then it shouldn't be sold on Amazon. And if you do, it should only come with user instructions. Supplying with fitting instructions suggests it is a DIY fitment. You have to choose, not dither.3 stars for value for money. Expensive if you need to add a module and employ an electrician to fit.Noise level. Quieter than my old Xpelair, but it's a 4" fan, and any fan smaller than 6" will be noisy as it had to spin faster to have any decent extraction. But it is quieter than many I've heard. As for physical installation, if you are replacing a square extractor, this will not cover up what the old extractor leaves. I had to fill the 4 screw holes and patch in the paint which I luckily had some still to hand.

Excellent fan, fair price and easy to install
The fan is very easy to install so that was great, haven't fully tested it yet but seems to do the job of airing out the bathroom and the noise level is very low which is very important.I would recommend it.

Top quality
I'm a professional bathroom fitter, fitted at least 7 of these over the years, no back draft, easy fit, 3 years warranty and if it stops working, it's just the fins full of dust/other crap. Just clean out, make sure it spins, job done.

Silent and efficient .
I replaced a failed fan (after some 10 years operation) with exactly the same model.Very easy to fit and wire up but to my discomfort failed to run after fitting. An accidental tap with a torch immediately started it up! Obviously needs a prod to wake it up!This fan is fitted with an “eyelid” closure system which open when the fan starts. This is good to keep backdrafts out of the bathroom.

A great solution for situations for where the wind blows in from open outside vents
Sleek and stylish, I've fitted 4 of these now to replace other types and I love them, and as long as you ensure the hole diameter in the wall or ceiling is the same as the fans', they are reasonably easy to fit if you take things carefully. The iris fins are however quite delicate, and you need to keep the cover free from all dust and grit that might be present around the hole in the wall or ceiling whilst installing. I fitted a ceiling one and the hole edges in the plasterboard were very crumbly, I found the iris wouldn't close evenly, or completely, because tiny bits of plaster grit were jamming between the fins and the cover, the springs of the mechanism are quite weak in that regard. I had let dirt get into the iris mechanism and then had to completely strip the cover parts down and wash and clean it all before it would work smoothly. The final grub screw that stops the cover moving I didn't bother fitting, apart from being very fiddly, it makes it easier if you ever want to adjust the timer unit later on, to not have to deal with the tiny grub screw. It really isn't needed, the cover stays on tightly in place without it. The cover itself was a bit of a struggle to put on, but again only because I hadn't kept the threads around the unit clean enough and had got a little bit of filler on them. There is only a slight clockwise turn needed to attach the cover, but it does need very careful alignment, I practised first before fitting any of it, and used a marker pen to make a few little guide marks for later.
