Gentian Violet is an "old time" treatment for "thrush" and for athlete's foot. It DOES stain skin and it must wear off and does NOT wash off. But it really, REALLY WORKS. I was employed at a car wash for about a year and my feet eventually picked up a chronic case of athlete's foot. I kept using the expensive over-the-counter creams to treat my condition and they all worked the same, "a practically overnight cure, followed by a few weeks of remission, followed by a raging return of my athlete's foot symptoms". Then I read about Gentian Violet and found that it KILLS the fungus that causes athlete's foot and keeps it from coming back. I had been living with this for nearly twenty years and spending lots of money on treatments but it always came back. So what I did was carefully apply the Gentian Violet to the spaces between my toes, making sure to cover the raw lesions caused by the fungus, and I always wore socks to keep them covered so no one would ask me, "What's that purple stuff on your toes?" I would keep my feet washed and clean and once or twice a week re-apply the Gentian Violet. There is also a product called "Fungi-Nail" and I would apply this about once a month to my toes as well. I could see the healing over the course of a year and toward the end all of the bad, fungus infected skin rose to the surface and fell away and the athlete's foot has NEVER come back. I had been dealing with this for almost twenty years. I had spent hundreds of dollars on over-the-counter athlete's foot remedies (I tried them ALL), and still no luck until I finally found this Gentian Violet. This is a great product at a cheap price for enough to last years. It DOES stain surfaces, including skin, so you should apply this in a place where nothing will be damaged if some of it spills. If I had gone to the doctor (I could not afford to) I would have gotten some dangerous pills to take with lots of unwanted side-effects but the Gentian Violet has been used for literally decades at low cost and extremely LOW to no medical risk.

I have copd and asthma. My inhalers cause mouth thrust. Thrust is blisters on your tongue and possible cracks at the corner of your mouth. Many times small babies will get this as well. This is an old time remedy but, my lung dr. told me it can help. It does help I just don't like the purple tongue and teeth it gives me. Therefore, use it before bed time so, by morning you can rinse your mouth get that purple stain out. Use peroxide to remove any stain left on teeth. Good luck!

For athlete's foot, this 2% version is the bomb. It's far more effective and dries much quicker than 1%. In fact, 1% is useless against athlete's foot and is a total waste of time & money. This 2% stuff though makes all the difference which makes it the good stuff :)

Genetian Violet applied with a funnel into my vaginal cavity finally has cured me of yeast infection that I suffered from for years! I can't believe that I am now yeastfree!

I’m not sure what I was thinking when I ordered this because the name implies it dyes the skin!

I use this for an ear cleaning solution for my dogs and I felt really good about this relatively hard to find 2% product until I started filling out the product. It asks me to rate flavor and softness, why? This is an antiseptic, not something you eat or wear. Anyway, bottom line: I would order again, even if the company seems a bit "off English".

Our family has used this product for many decades. It is amazing. Be sure to buy the 2% version rather than the 1%.

Love this stuff for killing stubborn fungal infection on skin. And the purple stains go away after a few days.
