gotta buy these if you remember....
absolute love these. they were part of growing up in the city when they cost only 25 cents...and they were the "expensive" balls. i've given then away to my childhood friends as varioius holiday gifts. we enjoyed playing stickball (sorry but usually with the less expensive "pensie pinky" because we could lose the ball more easily), stoopball, punchball, boxball, king tug (different in different cities) and similar games that we created as kids. probably the best and least expensive remembrance for any of us old guys who grew up in east coast cities! usable, fun, still the same quality and worth every penny. AND, if anyone wants to start these game up again i'm willing!!!! great fun. one caviat: remember to bounce each a few times...they still seem to need to take a "set" before they get to maximum bounce. that is nice...they seem to be same as the original.

Poor Quality Control Leads to Seam Splitting
These balls frequently slit at the seam—even after only a few bounces. This was my second box of twenty four and I was hoping the problems experienced with my first purchase was just a manufacturing anomaly. It was not. I’m experiencing “seam-splitting” problems with 30-40% of the balls. The seam splitting is similar to other photos shared in these reviews.

Spaulding "Spauldeen" pink rubber ball.
When I was a kid in New York City in the 1940s, we played all sorts of street games...stickball, stoop-ball, handball etc. with a small, pink rubber ball, made by the Spaulding Company. The Noo Yawk pronunciation was "Spauldeen". I was back in NYC a few weeks ago and tried to find a "Spauldeen" in the stores...to no avail. Went on the Internet, and low and behold...Spaulding still produces this nostalgia inducing ball (in Thailand). So, I bought a case of them. They're exactly the same as they were in the 40s, albeit a bit more expensive. Took one to a nearby school-yard on a recent saturday (when no kids were around), and spent a happy hour throwing my "Spauldeen" against a brick wall for a game of one man catch. It was the first time in over sixty years...I've changed...the ball hasn't! It was a great trip down memory lane. John Elfmont, MD Redondo Beach, California

BALLS FOR EVERYONE!
I just wanted to have in my hand again a "SPALDEEN" and since some people were selling on internet 1 ball for $7.00 bucks, I decided to buy this box risking my money because nowhere in the description is says how many balls you will recieve for the price. AND WALA! Yes people DON'T ASK ANYMORE; I RECIEVED 24 BALLS. YES! 24. I am so glad the mayor of our town constructed a new handball court. I gave out a few of these balls to the family and everyone was happy to have one in their hands. It's like a time machine once you grab one and smell the rubber you return to New York and remember the good times. I recomend this to everyone who use to play in the streets, stoop ball, handball, chinese handball, stickball, punchball, etc.

Not the same ball.
I purchased a box of these a number of years ago. Those were the same ball. The balls from this purchase are soft and have a different texture. That being said, they are playable, but disappointing.

Great Toy for Young and Old
We purchased a quantity of these to add to children's gift packs. However, we soon found that some grandpas liked them too. They seemed perfect for senior grip exercises and fidget toys.

She like to fetch balls and many wound up over the ...
I bought this product for my dog to play. She like to fetch balls and many wound up over the back yard fence. I bought the whole box so that I can have extra as they keep going over the fence. To my disappointing my dog love to chew on the balls and they crack very easily. For this reason I'm rating only 2 stars, otherwise if you buy to play yourself for any other reasons, it may be a good ball.
