Fodor's Cancun and the Riviera Maya: with Cozumel and the Best of the Yucatan (Full-color Travel Guide) Paperback – October 8, 2013

When I missed a cruise boat once I flew down to Cancun and slept at a nice cheap hotel in the Riviera Maya. I found nice inexpensive restaurants too.I wanted to go back and do this some more but I didn't want to "wing it".This book shows a person how to have a nice trip, and a more authentic trip than the mega resorts provide on the cheap.

Book was in better shape than I expected, for a used book.

We bought six guides. This one was best for us. It had some extra info, like where to SCUBA dive. Plus it was easy to read and covered different budget levels. When we arrived, the guide had predicted things well. It was reasonably up to date.

The book has good information but is very repetitive. Adding repetitive volume to a travel guide is annoying because it only makes the book heavier to carry around on travel.

It is a nice book I wish it had information on all there is to see and do in Cozumel and the surrounding areas not just what the authors wish to write about.

I really enjoyed perusing this book as I made plans to visit Riviera Maya. The articles on Mayan culture and tequila crafting were especially interesting. I just wish there was a few more detailed maps of the area between Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

It's really hard for a travel guide to disappoint me, but wow! It was unorganized. For instance: Isla Holbox was under the category of the west side of the Yucatan next to Campeche. The images should be helpful, but instead it was more confusing! I didn't feel the fulfillment that I usually do from reading a guide book. There should also be more of a background on the country and the culture. Instead it's sort of catered towards someone who wants to see pictures without any context.

Kind of a waste of money. There doesn't seem to be anything in here I can't find during a light internet search, which is a shame.
