Nomex is quality; LavaLock glue is terrible; buy Permatex Red RTV Silicone for glue replacement.
The Nomex itself is a good product and resists high heat while blocking smoke from exiting the cooking chamber. However, the "LavaLock" glue that is used on the back of the Nomex strips is a terrible product. There was so little tack on the glue that it easily fell off of my finger as if there was none at all. It has very little grip and I wouldn't trust it to stay on for a couple days let alone the years that it is expected to last. It is worse than almost any other glue I can imagine. About the same tack as a wet noodle, if that.I advise you buy some high temp RTV silicone to glue it to your grill. Avoid the rebranded "BBQ" products that are going to be upsold and just buy the quality Permatex Red RTV Silicone used for making all sorts of gaskets; if you like fair prices, that is.

Works great on GMG Daniel Boone
Bought this for my Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone.I primarily wanted to seal the bottom on the lid that is closest to the shelf as I was getting heat dissipation there and it was discoloring a customer wooden shelf I put on. I ended up putting one strip on the lid itself and one strip slightly lower on the barrel of the grill. One first putting it on it will be very loose and will pull right off. The key is to perform a burn in so the adhesive heats up and becomes one with the grill. After that burn in, the adhesive is very strong and it no longer wants to pull away. The seal is nice and tight now and the heat dissipation has been fixed. Great product!

Tired of leaking smoke out of your Traeger...This solves that problem right now!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Let me tell you, if you're losing smoke out the front door on your Traeger, your meats are losing flavor! No 2 ways around it. You need to fix it, and this gasket material does the trick!First off, you must clean, degrease and give the lip a wipe with Isopropyl Alcohol or Denatured Alcohol. You will have no adhesion issues whatsoever. Anyone complaining about it not sticking, you're simply not doing it right. Hot water and Dawn dish soap work well as a degreaser, or if you are more handy and have some legit degreaser, use that. Then wipe with alcohol and let it dry. Once you do all that prep, application is simple, and this stuff sticks like mad. Trust me, I tried lifting a spot to adjust, nope! I trimmed it from the outside to even it and let it go lol. There's more than enough to do a full perimeter door seal on a Traeger Elite/Pro/Tex 34 here.As you can see before and after (pic with the dogs, they're my bbq buddies), no more choo choo train smoke coming out around the door. It's all inside where it belongs. And that you can see in the smoke ring on that delicious brisket I made for Mother's Day. Keep your smoke where it belongs...On your meat.

Works Great on my Char-Griller Akorn
I purchased a used Akorn with abused hinges and a completely flat manufacturer's gasket. It's a great grill, pizza oven and smoker, but it was leaking air around the ash pan and where the hood meets the body. After installing FireBlack under the hood gasket and around the ash pan, I have almost no air leaks when completely sealed. The seal is so tight that with the grill latched and the hood damper closed, the smoke is forced to vent through the cracks in the bottom damper.Excellent buy, and I will be buying again.

Awesome Product
Awesome product. We purchased this for a cabela's smoker grill we had that had some defective spot welds on the drum and created a gap around the lid. All my smoke and heat would come out of that area rather than where it was supposed to. However we took it back for a refund and purchased a Pit boss smoker. We put this felt around the inside of the new lid insulate a little better than metal to metal. I am impressed. This grill is awesome. The gasket keeps 99% of the smoke inside of the smoker where it should be. And it makes for a soft and quiet closing of the lid. Excellent product. So far the sticky backer has not failed. Super happy with this product and will absolutely recommend this to anyone with a grill or smoker

Great Gasket for my smoker...
Worked perfect for my smoker lid to keep in more of the smoke, the adhesive works great and has been on there for months already and no signs of it coming off any time soon either. Easy to cut with a pair of scissors, just be careful when you pull off the tape to expose the adhesive not to stretch out the cloth as it will. Hands down would recommend this product if your looking to seal up your smoker a little more.

Works great!
I purchased this product for my pellet smoker. It was leaking heavily around the lid and wasn't holding temps as accurate as I would like. So I purchased this to fix the problem. Price was right and seemed to have good reviews. When it arrived I cleaned up the lid with mean green degreaser and a razor to get any heavy build up off. Then I went back over with some alcohol to make sure things were clean and ensure good adhesion. One tip when doing the install, leave the roll whole don't cut pieces to length at first. Apply the length you need to one side then peel back the backing and cut the felt leaving the backing long. Otherwise it's a pain to get it pulled off.

Hard to puncture but easy to cut to size
I used this to seal the floor pan of my gas insert fireplace and it works great as a gasket. The adhesion is solid, it resists any heat damage from flames about 3 inches above it and was easy to cut with scissors. I will warn though, there’s no way to screw through it. The black threads of the fire black get all twisted up on the screw and start pulling the material through the screw hole and breaking the adhesion if you keep going. I had to fold/crease the strip and use scissors to cut a diamond shaped hole through it to be able to get a screw through. Overall though, very satisfied, would recommend.
