A Family...Built Together with Love and Oh So Much More
What a wonderful message to children and adults alike! Families, like houses, are truly all different and no two are alike. For me, it brought back memories of my own childhood, finding out that I was adopted, and then realizing over the years that although I would never be able to have children of my own, my "family" was bigger than I could ever imagine. Years ago someone told me I was destined to have a different kind of family. Mina Starsiak Hawk's book, Built Together, just reminded me of that and quieted the ache that has been in my heart for many years.I love the fact that Mina's son is telling the story, and leads us to the conclusion that no one ever has to go it alone. So heartwarming! Beautifully illustrated with vibrant colors, the people shown in the pictures are the perfect accompaniment to the story. This book is a must have for everyone's library. Pick it up again and again when you need to be reminded that families are stronger together when built with love, trust and kindness. Way to go Mina...this book is definitely built to last for generations to come!

All families are beautiful
We love Mina Starsiak-Hawk and have always loved watching her on Good Bones. Her children's book combines two things near and dear to her heart: her family and her business (construction). Told through her son, Jack wonders how a family is built and ponders all the many tools mom uses at work. She lovingly shows how families, in all their many forms, are beautiful. We loved reading this book as a family and look forward to gifting it to friends with young kids!

Beautiful story of how a family is built..
This book is amazing! Not only are the colors vibrant and the pictures beautiful, it tells how a family isn't "built" with just those who are related to you. As an educator in a urban school, I plan to use this book in our All About Me unit when we talk about family because family is different to every person. Way to go Mina! I cant wait to read this book with my students and nieces and nephew for years to come!

Perfect for adoptive families and everyone else!
If we ever needed this book it is now! Subject matter is perfectly worded to help guide young readers through the realization that family isnβt just those who share your DNA. It also helps young readers understand that families donβt all look the same. The art work is vibrant and fun, with small hints to the authors real life. This is on my highly recommended list and I canβt wait to one day share it with our future adoptive children.

Love it
Such a cute storyline with great vivid pictures my toddler will love! We have a big family as well as lots of close friends we call our family and it's so hard to explain why a friend is considered family to our 4 year old. I think this book will help him start to understand that family isn't just mom, dad, siblings etc. Can't wait to read it to him tonight!

Family built with love and friends
Built Together is a fun children's book that fosters inclusivity and promotes the love of family and friends. Just as the author builds houses on her hit HGTV show, families are built one kind choice and new friend at a time. Families aren't just relatives, but friends as well.

Built Together ππππππππππππ
Built Together, written by Mina S. Hawk is a great book to read as a family! My kids loved reading it! They give their thumbs up. ππThe story is told from a great perspective! The person that wrote Mina's bio screwed up when they wrote she has two sons. That person is clearly not a fan since they didn't know she has a son and daughter.
