Now, voyager, sail thou forth, to seek and find
While any thoughtful, imaginative child will find much to love in this first book from Peter Van den Ende, any adult with the same qualities will find just as much. Perhaps more! A wordless, dreamlike voyage across the world & the psyche both, its richness of detail, its use of tangible black & shimmering white, its matter-of-fact surreal vision, all combine to shape an immersive & transformative experience for the reader. It's easy to become enthralled by each page, going from one tiny thing to another, even as all those tiny things weave something much larger & evocative in the reader's mind. Yet there's no obvious or heavy-handed symbolism here; the images allow the reader to make his or her own connections & story ... a story that may well change with each return to it. If this is Van den Ende's first book, than I eagerly look forward to many more from him. Most highly recommended!

Wonderful … and wordless
This is a terrific fantasy travel story told entirely in black-and-white illustrations. Every time I read this to children I see something new on every page (and so do they!) And while it's clearly intended for young(er) audiences, it's also awesome for those of us at any age.

Exquisite, but one Scratched/Damaged
What a circuitous adventure the little boat takes, from folding to oceans to ports to squids to coral. The little boat circumvents huge difficulties in a magical way, all the way, again and again, fun for a little one or bigger one, to see just what it encounters and how and where. However, when I was about to give as a gift one of my copies to dear friends with three children, I was horrified to see that there was a scratch across the cover and I always treat, especially books, and especially childrens' books, with utmost respect and care. I would have returned it if possible.

What an amazing book! This one is going in his forever keepsake box!
This book is so creative, clever, layered, and original. It feels like a rare treasure found in a museum. My 2 yr + 3 month old can’t put it down. Each time you “read” or someone new reads it, it’s a new story. Such humor! Such details! Extraordinary find!!! Bemused I found it on Amazon and not in a little curio shop in London!

Incredible Artistry and Creativity
This is an artistic and creative masterpiece, much like the work of Escher. Quite an accomplishment.

A Book of Pictures
I can pour over this book for hours. This is a an incredible book telling a story without words. Every time I look at it I see something new. Although it’s expensive it is definitely worth the money. It has a lot of provenance as the illustrations are based on a famous Dutch artist.

Nice book to own
I bought this book for myself and it's impressive. I like to spend time and look at the details of the pictures. Wordless is great because you can interpret the way you understand it.
