Great mini guitar
Awesome mini guitar for travel and easy playing. Great price, nice sound, relatively quiet. Pick up is great. Highly recommend

Solid travel guitar
Perfect travel guitar. Bought this specifically for work travel. Sounds great, solid construction. My 1 star deduction is the standard tuning is high pitched. Drop down to Eb tuning was thr answer. Recommend installing heavier strings for a bolder tone. Highly recommend. Love it.

Dream Guitar at an Affordable Price!
What a fantastic little guitar! When I was first learning about guitars, I purchased this model (Tobacco Burst) but didn't like the PBs (phosphor bronze) that came on it, so I switched to Silk and Steel 11s. The guitar developed a buzz. I took it to three different techs, had it restrung several times, even put on higher quality nut and saddle, but nothing could get rid of the buzz. After a few months, I sold it. Since then I have learned that putting 11s on a short scale guitar such as this will make the strings floppy and can cause a buzz (I wonder why none of the techs knew this). So - I ventured forth again and purchased the "natural" version. I still don't care for PB strings, so I put Martin Monel Retro 12s (MM12) on them. WOW!!! Huge improvement over the original strings. What's so great about this guitar? It has excellent intonation, the action is low, fret ends are smooth, the tone is sublime (especially when plugged into my Fender Mustang Mini Plus set on the 3rd preset: Swirling Echoes). Playability is wonderful. It has a balanced feel, no buzz, weight is comfortable, the neck is smooth, and I love the back and sides. One thing I'm not nuts about: The top. I have another guitar whose finish is designed as "distressed", giving it a worn look. I love this on that guitar. It seems to me that Yamaha attempted to do something similar with this model by infusing smudges into the finish. However, this doesn't result in a "distressed" look so much as a "dirty" look. I'm not a huge fan of Yamaha's version of this. Not a big deal, and I knew this before I bought the guitar, so obviously, no lost points for this. I've been around the block a while with guitars and have played a LOT of them. While this little Yammy isn't anywhere near the top of the line, it punches way above its class and delivers an exceptional value for beginners, intermediates as well as more advanced players. It is ideal for shorter folks (anyone under, I'd say, about 5'6' or so). For beginners of all ages or anyone who wants an excellent inexpensive traveling guitar that isn't as persnickety with temp and humidity changes, this is the one!

Great Little Guitar at a Great Little Price
I've been playing out with this little guitar. It sounds thin acoustically, but I think it sounds great through a PA or amp. I've gotten complements on the sound. I play it through a JBL suitcase PA with a little extra bass and a bit of reverb. I play small saloons with little or no stage and the 3/4 size makes life much easier. It's very easy to carry too, of course. Since it has a short neck, it's very easy to bend notes. The finish and detail are very nice. The machine heads don't slip. The preamp is on if the guitar cord is plugged in and that will eat batteries in a few days. No problem; make sure you unplug. I highly recommend these guitars just to have around the house for impromptu practice, for travel, and for small venues..

It’s amazing!
Not a single issue with the finish the action is perfect the frets are amazing and smoothed out on the neck takes double A’s for the preamp and the over all tone is perfect for what I am I’m using it for I’m 5’3 and a bit heavier and wanted something “Kevin” sized ha ha I love it so much glad after 3 years of looking at these I finally bought one The gig bag it comes with is more padded than ur standard free dust cover but still not suitable for checking it as luggage

Two issues
1st the top of the guitar does not look like the photos. I paid extra for the nice looking top and this one looks worse. There’s like a darker stain that seems to be only at the bottom of the guitar, not spread evenly throughout the wood, other than a black dot stain under the sound hole that looks out of place. Not good quality control here. 2nd the 1/4 jack was loose. I had to take off all the strings and get my hand inside the guitar to keep it from spinning when I tighten the nut on the outside. I have larger hands so this was difficult, but would be easier for someone with small hands. Still it’s something you shouldn’t have to do when you buy a new guitar. For its size the sound is nice and it plays nice. I would give it a 4 or 5 star review if it didn’t have these issues. If you decide to get one I would get the cheaper version.

Nice little guitar
What I wanted - 3/4 body, with a cutout, nylon strings, a brand I’m familiar with that has decent sound and looks good. This guitar hits almost all of those, minus the nylon strings so I compromised in that aspect. Overall I’m happy with it. It’s even smaller than I expected but it’s comfortable to play. I’m 5’4 with dainty girl hands so I usually struggle to reach the right frets with certain chords which is why I wanted something smaller. The neck isn’t much different than a full size but seems a tiny bit smaller. I also don’t notice as much fret buzz as I did when I played a full size; I used to borrow one (not sure of the make) and I had a fender, both had a lot of buzz so I think it was an issue on my end with my reach. This guitar has a look I like well enough and the sound is decent for such a small guitar. It does go out of tune often but the built in tuner is a really nice feature. I may use some of the advice of other customers to make this thing sound even better but not right away and not all at once. I’m enjoying getting back into practice and recommend this to casual players, beginners and apartment dwellers - I don’t have to worry much about my neighbors having to hear me play since it doesn’t project like a full size.

Still love the guitar but the pickup stopped working after 6 months. Very frustrating The guitar is beautiful. Love the built in tuner. And as always with a Yamaha guitar, it plays perfectly. The only negative is the Amazon has wrongly advertised the size of this guitar. It is only 32", no the 36" amazon is claiming or the 34" yamaha is claiming. All that aside, I kept the guitar because it is an excellent guitar, especially for someone like myself with very small, arthritic hands.

It's indeed a very small guitar and has similar size of my ukulele, but compare to the same brand Yamaha FG800, it sounds not good enough, I think it's the difference between the box size. So, if you want a good sound, you'd better to choose the bigger one.

It came late, make me upset. The guitar sounds is very nice. Yamaha always put their quality first on their products. But unfortunately I’ve to return it cz the size which is I thought would be fine for my little arms is to small. I’m learning guitar with full size guitar and I always feel hurt on my arms after play a few minutes so why I bought 3/4 size, but then 3/4 wasn’t my size either cz I feel it to small. Overall, this guitar is great for young kids.

The guitar is smaller than they’ve marked down. Sounds good unplugged BUT the whole reason for my purchase was so that I Would have BOTH acoustic and electric sound and thats not happening when i plug it in my amp. Im wondering if I need a specific amp or something??
