It really works and I am amazed!
My poor German Shepard is so afraid of the Fireworks, I live close to Disneyland and they go off every night. But around the 4th of July I worry my poor boy is going to have a heart attack. I bought the Thundershirt but it just makes him really hot and doesn't seem to help much. So I ordered these Mutt Muff's thinking they would probably not work but its worth a try. First I didn't think he would keep them on. Then I read from other reviews that you can ear through them. hmmmm Anyway I ordered them too late for July 4th. They came July 5th. Every night before they came I would hold my hands over his ears ever so gently to get him ready for the muffs. Then when they came the first time he shook them off. I gently flapped his ears down and put the muffs on him. Then he just looked at me and thought (I can read his mind lol) "This is helping to block the noise! It's like he gets this strange look on his face. hahaha And was still for the first time in a long time. I was amazed! So with all that said and a 5 star rating I do have one problem and that is they don't stay seated on his ears very well but I don't now how that could be solved. You would want to put a strap around his face. Maybe something like a neck rest. Sorta like Cesar Malens collar.Well, I still love them and recommend them if you have the time to fool them them to comfort your dog it will be worth it!

No sound reduction!! Poor Quality
I have been looking for an item to reduce the sound of the noise in my plane for my wired haired pointing griffon and this seems to be a great idea. The reviews of the product left me skeptical at best but, I went ahead and figured I would give it a chance. The item arrived when expected. Unfortunately, the other reviews are correct. The design of the "muffs", the part that actually covers the ears has no sound reducing abilities at all. The three, very cheap quality, velcro straps are looped through the body of the earmuff with a large hole at the (3) strap locations. Then on the inside, there is a piece of blue foam that looks like about 1/4" thick and resembles that of what you can find in a shipping store. I took the muff and held them over my ears while I had some music on in the house and as expected almost no reduction in volume! For the price of the product, I was very disappointed.I am going to by a seat of children or small adult ear protectors and make my own design. should be less and the quality will be substantially better. I do not recommend this product.

Our dog keeps these on pretty well
The Mutt Muffs DDR337 are fairly easy to adjust to our labrador's head. He doesn't seem to mind wearing them most of the time, but if he rubs his head on something, the Muffs will move and have to be readjusted. Not sure how well the muffs protect his hearing (can't really ask a dog!) but he doesn't seem bothered by the loud noise of a railroad motor car (speeder) engine and the track noise when we are on the rail. His humans use aviation headsets and intercom to muffle the noise and hear the radio communication with other motor cars, so we wanted to put something on our pup too.

Good Sound Protection: Glad I Gave Them a Try
These ear muffs seem to be of high quality, and I would recommend them if your dog needs to be in loud environments like mine does. I have a Seeing Eye dog, half lab, half golden retriever. I play trumpet in a band and an orchestra. While sometimes I can leave the dog at home, I often need to use him to walk with me to rehearsals or concerts. When I first got him, the loud noise didn't seem to bother him. But as he has aged, he has become more and more sensitive to my trumpet playing, especially when it's particularly loud or high pitched. Having him whine and cry loudly during concerts wasn't so cool. I was skeptical of these but got desperate enough to buy them and give them a try. While they haven't eliminated his whining totally, they help a lot. He is able to tolerate much louder sounds before beginning to cry. I give them four stars instead of five because they're not a 100% perfect fit. It would be hard to customize a two sizes fit all product to every dog's head size and shape. There's a little bit of a gap at the bottom where they touch his cheek, no matter how tight the straps are. But they look comfortable, and he tolerates wearing them very well. I used the clicker to click and give him a treat right when I took them out of the package so that he would have a positive association with them from the start. I used the click and treat technique to gradually work up to having them touch his head, sitting all the way on his head, and then wearing them with the straps tightened. I continue to praise and treat him when I first put them on, and I think that helps a lot as far as his comfort and tolerance in wearing them. He wore them all the way through the two-hour band rehearsal this week with no problem. I would say give them a try, and adjust the straps until you get the best possible fit.

YOU MIGHT AS WELL GET THESE, BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THAT CAN HELP YOU DOG
I got these before the new year to keep my dogs sane during the fireworks. I was going to return them after the fireworks because I had bought these before last year, but man there is NOTHING out there that helps your dogs during thunder or fireworks. I had no choice but to keep these and believe me I rather have the $70 for each. I got two of them. I dont know why people think drugs will work-Drugs don't work, you have to cover the ears of the dogs if you don't want them to freak out, but these earmuffs don't do a good job of doing that. block out the sounds and they should be fine, at least thats my opinion. but with these muffs, they still can hear. I was planning on putting some more foam inside the muffs to see if that helps, but never got to do that. I don't know why these don't do good. They have the right shape for the head, I don't know. I actually bought some dog hoodie called HAPPY HOODIE that go over their heads and make them look like nuns. I put those on them and then these muffs and that kind of did a good job, but I don't know. Someone please come up with something better!!

Important read - Fantastic quality!
To anyone reading the comments, ignore the comments of “I tested them on myself and I still hear everything”, although that’s true they are not designed for human heads so of course it’s not going to work for us. My dog is super noise sensitive and is afraid of all kinds of loud noises. I bought these because we just moved into a new building that does fire alarm tests monthly, and I knew my dog was not going to like that. My dog actually fell asleep with the headphones on and stayed asleep during the testing of the fire alarm. If that doesn’t say something about comfort I don’t know what will because the fire alarm is a loud shrieking noise that even my ears hurt hearing it. The fact that the noise didn’t wake up my dog is astounding, and I’ll tell you why the foam inside the headphones is super high quality and dense. Try it, take the foam out of the headphones and cover your ears with them, that is the true test that will show you how well these headphones work. I can’t say enough good things about this product, and I promise you will not regret this purchase.

Mutt muffs don’t cut out much noise
These mutt muffs don’t cut out much of the noise and they are hard on the ground when he tries to lay his head. They are too expensive! I expected more for the cost!
