It's "official" RAM
It works on my Mini R, doubling the RAM to 64G. On a zfs-based system, that's a very good thing. Besides, I can now run VMs and apps with reduced guilt. :-)When you first plug this in, do remember that the first boot will take... longer than you think. Go have a cup of whatever before deciding that your RAM is bad. This should only happen on the first boot. No, you don't have to mess with the BIOS.And yes, you can probably get this RAM cheaper from any number of sources. But the reason I paid a premium for a Mini R (instead of building my own, which I've done before) is that I want a supported hardware combination that someone else (IXSystems) has sweated over qualifying and attaching their good name to. Why would I risk that for saving fifty bucks on RAM that may subtly affect my NAS's stability? Think about it.

Expensive 32GB ram
If you have a TrueNAS system memory is king, memory will get you the best performance over all. Better than any read, or write cache drives. Memory should be the thing you spend the money on, the disappointment is that to move from 32GB to 64GB of ram is $300 at the time of this review. That's can be a whole drive you can add to increase storage on your NAS. It's a needed upgrade for sure, just disappointed it's a $300 addon for a device that is already costing over $1000 at it's base config. Seems like TrueNAS should just max out the memory on the machines and make it part of the cost for the appliance itself. It works fine I am knocking the stars of because this 32GB of ram costs more than the 64GB of ram I put into my brand new gaming machine.
