ARM & HAMMER Powder Laundry Detergent, Alpine Clean, 9.56 lb, 155 Loads - AND 4 MONTHS!!!
This stuff is remarkable. I hate to even write this review for fear they will change or discontinue it now that I'm keyed in. To the point - it does a better job than any liquid I've tried. It runs circles around liquids for both stain/dirt removal and for deodorizing. Plus, you only need a small amount, I use 1/8-1/4 of the cup that is provided. I purchased my last box on 05/28/2025, and I'm here today to finally buy more. It is 09/30/2025. 4 months on the dot. And at $15 a box, that is the best value in laundry detergent there that I can find. There are only 2 adults in my household we do make a lot of dirty laundry to the tune of 2 loads a day on average, so the detergent was in regular full use the whole 4 months just to give you an idea of my usage. I've always been a price conscious laundry detergent shopper, but the reason I bought this was actually for performance reasons. The fact it is so much cheaper was just gravy. I had gotten sick of how terrible my front-load HE washing machine is at getting clothes clean. Even with all the tricks to bypass most of the HE "enhancements" and using top-o-the-line liquid detergent, I felt like things just don't reach the level of clean I like. And I'm not falling for the "boosters" scam either, maybe I'm crazy, but buying a "booster" to use in every single wash to get it clean is idiotic, the soap companies made their soap less effective and to get the full cleaning power back, you now have to pay for an upgrade (granted, the oxyclean odor blaster and white revive add-ins are amazing, but I shouldn't need to use for every single wash). I began doing some searching and after way too many hours on reddit threads about doing laundry, one thing kept getting mentioned over and over, people have been switching back to powder detergent because it got their clothes significantly cleaner (for those that have newer front loading HE machines). I've read a few theories as to why this is so, the most common and most plausible is that the powder adds a mechanical scouring action into the mix, but it dissolves, so I don't know how much of an impact there could be for maybe 5-10 min of having grit it your wash (longer in cold, shorter in hot, obviously). Then the other reasons for better performance have to do with chemistry, which is when I stop reading. I know this getting long but, I must point out of the converts to powder, the lions share switched to this as it's considered to be better than Tide amongst the Laundry Literatti on reddit. They weren't wrong. They preached "less is more" with this stuff, one going as far as suggesting 6 tablespoons per load. That's a bit extreme for me, but I still only do an 1/8-1/4 of the scooper that comes inside. If I used as much as the box and scooper suggest, they'll never get fully rinsed. TIP - I do always set my machine to run a 2nd rinse cycle now, and I think that's key in getting to work so well. Of course, I still keep bottles of a "for darks" type of liquid for delicates, darks, special items that I want to wash on cold and use a gentle wash. But everything else gets the powder. My only complaint is that Amazon only carries this in the one scent, which is a fine scent, not over powering, is pleasant, I just like a little variety and switch things up once in a while. It lasts so long that even just having a 2nd option to alternate between would be sufficient. But I digress. TLDR: Is good

Fragrance-Free Powder That Actually Feels Clean
I’ve tried several “free & clear” detergents over the years, and most either leave residue or still carry that faint artificial scent. This one doesn’t. The Arm & Hammer Free of Perfumes & Dyes powder leaves clothes clean, crisp, and scent-neutral — exactly what I want from a detergent that focuses on performance over perfume. What makes it stand out for me is how effectively it cuts through daily laundry buildup while staying gentle on fabric. It handles towels, bedding, and even darker loads without leaving streaks or stiffness. I also appreciate the simple, dermatologist-tested formula — no unnecessary dyes, just clean efficiency. For anyone who likes things neat and tidy, the entire 6.16 lb box fits perfectly into a 4 qt airtight container with a flush top — visually satisfying and space-efficient for those who work within a compact laundry area. It’s a low-key powerhouse cleaner that proves you don’t need fragrance to feel fresh. — Curated by Jaded John | #OrderlyCleanDesign

This detergent is amazing.
I haven't used a powdered detergent since the 70's but this product caught my eye. I am doing my best to eliminate the use of disposable plastics and this detergent does that. Also, it cleans my clothes every bit was well as my previous detergent and it smells great. It's less expensive, eliminates unnecessary plastics, cleans well and smells great. Win, win, win and win!!!

Efficient, cost effective, and skin friendly
I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now. As any other powder detergent, only a small amount is needed for a full load. Good quality- I have noted that my clothes don’t look sad and lifeless as they did with tide and gain powder. I do have to run an extra rise cycle to make sure that there is no residual detergent left in them- this may be mostly because of my water (too much chlorine in our tap water). The smell is fresh but not overpowering. It doesn’t linger. A fresh load right out of the washer emits some pleasant scent however it dissipates after the dryer. Gain powder smell is far better than this one, in my opinion, mostly because the scent stays with u the entire day. Shipping was okay- there was some spillage in the shipping box- which I have seen to be true for most powder detergents (it’s like a bag of flour- never sealed properly enough). We have relatively sensitive skin however no actual skin conditions- this detergent hasn’t shown any adverse effects- 🤞. Size is good for a family of a few who do frequent washing.

Spill, no spill
UPDATE: it is now June, and I still have this detergent. There's about 1 1/4 boxes of the detergent left. It lasts very long and when washing, I don't need a lot of it. I have used it to wash my dish rags by hand, added some to my dish water, and paired with vinegar... it suds really nicely and it keaves a clean and wonderful aroma in my home. I love the smell of this stuff. When I opened the packaging there was a little bit of powder that had spilled inside the box. When I went to open the detergent box, there was powder all along the outer lining of the box itself and I didn't know what to expect. I thought it was overfilled and that it was going to spill out on me. Thank the Father YHWH it didn't. It was not over filled, just that it must have been tilted and some powder had gotten out. It doesn't take much to wash your clothes. I filled the scoop up with about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way up and poured it into my machine and added some vinegar. I let it fill with water and man was that water hot and soapy. It had my laundry room and my home smelling a-ma-zing. It did excellent on my clothes.

Excellent detergent, low fragrance, no plastic packaging!!
This is an excellent detergent and works better than any other detergent on the market. I've tried loads. I recently used a variety of laundry sheets with ok, not great results. Those are made with plastic too - plus I've found them to be harsh on clothing. I used to use A&H when my kids were younger and I am very happy I've come back to it. The scent is very light and not at all overpowering (we're sensitive to scents so probably a good measurement) The cardboard box means almost no plastic waste; there is a plastic scooper inside which, by the way, is too large so use less than recommended for best results. Overall, a great product with a bonus of being a terrific price point. Highly recommend!

good deal
found this to work just fine with a much lower cost per load of the stuff i have been using in the past. i use spray n wash or oxy clean pre treat on really bad stains, so this is a much more economical choice. i also like the sheets for the tidier cabinets and ease of use, but this was cheaper when i was looking so...into the cart it went.
