I have a butter dish that matches my dish set, but has only a domed cover for it. No handle. While it works as well as a butter dish can, I can't tell you how many times I've dropped the stupid lid into the butter while trying to put it back on because it's glass. And glass can be slippery. After a particularly annoying morning, wherein I once again covered half the lid with butter, I ordered my 12 year old to log into Amazon and buy a new butter dish. The only stipulations was that it HAD to have a handle, and couldn't be fandom related (she really loves Doctor Who and Harry Potter), and preferably around the $15 and under range, but I'd be willing to go a little higher if it was really cool. Needless to say she was quite happy about receiving this responsibility, especially when I told her she needn't consult me, and that I would trust her on her choice. This dish was the result. I rather say I'm quite happy with it! I like the silicone edge cover (my old one had chips around the edges from wear and tear), and the ability to change the colors makes me ridiculously happy. I'm a creature of change so being able to swap out colors from time to time gives me giggle. Go figure. The only possible drawback is that this dish is more square then rectangular. I had to cut off about 2 T of a butter stick for it to fit, but I could fit 2 sticks side by side if I wanted to. Not really a big deal to me. Our store sells squares of butter from a local dairy that would probably fit perfectly, so I'll just buy those from now on. They taste better anyway. ;)

Porcelain was chipped in two places upon delivery. The corner of the manufacturer box was smashed, but the shipping box was undamaged. The heart handle is silicone, so the weight of the porcelain lid makes it swing around when lifted. The edge of the porcelain didn't lay very well on the silicone edge rim. Ended up returning it.

Are you kidding me? The first time this was delivered it did not have a lid.... now that it has finally been delivered again it does NOT fit a stick of butter...

Love this butter dish! The Good: The size is great for my purpose. I use Kerrygold butter, and it fits perfectly in this dish. I don't like having to unwrap and rewrap the foil packaging to cut off the amount of butter I need, so I was specifically looking for a dish that would accommodate the European size butter. This fits the bill. I like to put the whole block in the dish and pre-cut tablespoon size pieces, so that it's easy to pull out the appropriate number of slices when I actually need it for a recipe. More Good: the silicone frames are more than just decorative. The frame allows for a nice airtight seal that keeps the butter fresh, without absorbing taste or odor from other foods in the refrigerator. It's also nice to have that airtight seal when leaving the dish out to soften butter. The blue silicone frame and handle happen to match my dishes fairly well, so I use that. However, I do agree with some other reviewers, that a white and/or a black frame and handle would be nice for those who do not care for the bright colors. Personally, I would not go without the frame, even if I didn't like the color, because of the seal it provides. More Good: the company was so nice to work with. My first order arrived broken. One corner was broken off of the base of the dish - didn't notice at first, but when I removed the silicone frame to wash the dish prior to using it, one corner remained in the frame. The company had sent an email to me after I ordered, to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase, and I emailed back and told them I had already started the return process with Amazon because the dish arrived broken. They were so nice, and sent me a discount code to use for re-ordering the dish. Unexpected, but very much appreciated. So why only 4 stars? The (kind of) Bad: My dish seems to be high-centered, meaning it rocks a bit on a flat surface, so I find myself holding down one side when I'm using it, so it won't rock. There are a couple ridges down the center of the bottom that stand proud of the perimeter ridge, creating this high-centering. Not a deal breaker for me, but kind of an inconvenience. Bottom line is I love the dish. So much so, that I'm considering ordering a second dish so that I can have one for salted butter and one for unsalted butter.

I didn't know that different sized butter cubes were a thing until I started looking for butter dishes! This butter dish fits my shorter west coast sticks really nicely. I don't know how long east coast cubes are, but you'd likely need to cut your cube & place the pieces next to each other. (Since the base is more square, I think there's room to do that) The base & cover seem sturdy and well made, and I like that I can change the accent colors to match my decor or whim. The lid sits on the silicon, but it's heavy enough that I think it makes a pretty good seal. (I'm also not too worried about my cat getting into the butter with this dish!) Overall happy with my purchase!

I'm giving it two stars for concept. Unfortunately my dish showed up and it's very wobbly and has a crack / blemish. I also thought the rubber would help it seal a little better, but it doesn't.

Fits european butter perfectly. Solidly made, perfect, just perfect.

This is the proper size for an 8oz stick of Kerrygold or a large 16oz block . The silicone and ceramic base are lid are fine. My only complaint, and thus the 3 stars, is the silicone heart. It is too small and flimsy and feels like it;s going to pull out under the weight of the ceramic lid. The narrow stem from the base of the heart to the top of the lid bends and you can see it pulling against the the hole. This makes me nervous.
