Inspiring
I have always wanted to paint, but how to go about it? At painting class, the instructor just says - try something. This kind of scares me. What if I waste my time? This book helped me overcome that silly fear. By outlining the stages of learning and promising me that if I only spend 20 hours getting the basics down, I will begin to develop expertise, I am now set free to go "try something."The book gives a high-level view of learning, based on solid research. Even better, it debunks some of the things I thought I knew about learning, such as the utility of 'learning styles theory.' It reminded me that holistic learning, involving all the senses and the beautiful interconnectedness of the world, is best. It also reassured me that tackling a learning task in small bursts is productive. This is a book of learning about learning, a meta type approach, and may be hard for some readers to absorb. Nevertheless, it's worth the journey.

Improve Your Learning Skills and Speed
Accelerated Learning Unlocked: 40+ Expert Techniques for Rapid Skill Acquisition and Memory Improvement is a handy guide to improving your productivity. Accessibly written with end-of-chapter summaries, this guide unpacks both well-known tips (the Pomodoro Method and the Pareto Principle) along with more unique hacks (the section on the note-taking is worth its weight in gold). Josh Kaufman's techniques for learning a new talent in 20 hours is also explored. My caveat is that the beginning section, which debunks myths about learning, could be grounded in more rigorous citations. The word "research" appears multiple times, but no appendix or footnotes appear in the text. I would have liked to read the sources on which the rebuttals are based. Regardless, this is well-worth reading.

ACTUALLY useful information!
Of all the “brain training” books I’ve read, this might be the best and most concise.⭐️The information is well-organized and doesn’t go on for too long. The ch. summary’s at the end of each chapter are a + for anyone looking for just the gist [but definitely come back and read the rest later].⭐️ It does challenge some of the common practices that may or may not work for someBest Chapters for me were the ones highlighting the Pomodoro and Pareto-Principles.🌟 If you want a book with USEFUL studying/focus strategies that doesn’t drone on, buy this one.For 99c it’s a must-have.

Education Speak
This is about how to learn in the abstract. As an scientist and educator I've found such self-improvement rules were of little use when trying put over a difficult concept. Specific learning goals demand a variety of approaches tailored to fit the subject. There are no general rules.

interesting and insightful
This book teaches you how to match a learning style with the content you're learning... something I had never thought about. I found the concept very interesting. Great step by step techniques, and easy to understand and follow.

Insightful
"The human mind has unlimited potential to pick up a book or get on a computer & learn whatever you want. The catch is you've got to know the right techniques that will help you access those parts of your brain that can work best for you, rather than against you." This book offers ways to relearn and/or focus on different techniques in a step by step simplistic guide. Would recommend it for sure!

On-target
This book gets right to the point. It's brief but clearly explains practices that work best for learning/memory, and dispels myths about practices that don't work so well but are popularly believed to work. The author's perspectives correlate with what I've learned elsewhere. With that said, however, I would have liked to see references and, at times, citations. There has been much research on this topic yet the author did not mention it.
