Simple, easy to use, solid slicer
This is a relatively small, simple and robust device with a very sharp, undulating edged circular Solingen steel blade. It cuts crusty home made bread, including sourdough, very well. It also sticks like a limpet to my polished granite work surfaces. I do have a couple of reservations, though. I expected the wooden handle to rotate freely on its spindle, but it sticks and there's no adjustable screw to loosen it. The handle also crushes the slice as it comes off the blade, unless one is careful. To address this I've adopted a simple modification with a 6" steel ruler and some magnets - see the attached photos. It's not elegant, but it's cheap and it does the job.

Best bread slicer
Bought this to slice my home made bread using a Panasonic bread maker. Very well made and works a treat, Other people have noted the suckers don't work all that well, but mine sticks like glue to the work surface. expensive, yes, but over time it's well worth it for me as we make 2 or 3 loaves a week, and it works so well I would not be without it. A doddle to clean with a pastry brush.

A simple, but oh so useful machine - and it looks great!
This now has pride of place on my kitchen island, opposite the bread bin. Look, it's not cheap. But I'm assuming that blade is of such quality it will last forever. It works perfectly. So far, we have just used it for various slice widths with different bread types. It can also do really thing slices that don't fall apart. Its just the right size - not too big and bulky, but can clearly do the job. I wish the suckers were a bit better and could stick on the wooden surface more easily. But that's not the end of the world! Highly recommended.

Replace the suction cups with rubber pads
Just like other reviewers the suction pads just don't stick & hold it in place unless on a completely smooth surface, wooden kitchen worktop has no chance of sticking. However, the suction pads are easily removed, just bought some slipstick rubber gorilla pads for stopping furniture slipping on wooden floors & replaced the suction cups with theses, it's now perfect. Slicer works great, definitely recommend but only 4 stars for the faff of having to resolve a poor design

Brilliant at what it does.
This is a brilliant gizmo. Had it now for 3 years. Bought it purely for slicing bread as I have a wrist problem. Had tried an electric knife, but the vibrations aggravated my wrist. This slices beautifully. Thickness adjustment is very easy. It's easy to clean - I just use a pastry brush to brush away crumbs. The only adjustment I've needed is a clamp to hold it still - the suction pads don't hold it still. But this is minor and with a (woodworking) spring hand clamp, it's held firm and works quickly and easily. Another point is that it's rather better at slicing flatter loaves, rather than tall tin loaves - tho it still manages that fine. I wouldn't be without it.

Unsafe, overpriced form over function
It looks great, but the function design is terrible. Suction cups that don’t really attach to a surface instead of clamp and how could they, they are attached with a metal screw through the suction cup. This means the cutter dangerously slips and slides on any surface. The crank handle is too close to the cutting mechanism which mean even small slices of bread immediately obstruct the handle and get squashed For what it is far to expensive, unusable and dangerous. Very disappointing.

Perfectly sliced sourdough
If you have ever made or bought sourdough or crusty bread you will all have had the struggle trying to saw through the crusty bottom. I had been looking at this slicer for months and trying to justify the cost but after having a debate with myself about self worth and why not I pressed that order button. It has been an absolute revelation, I can honestly say it has been one of the best kitchen items I have ever bought. It slices easily and cleanly through the crustiest of breads, no ragged edges or pulled crumb. A couple of tips I have learnt, wipe the suckers with a damp cloth before you stick it to your work surface, really helps with stopping it sliding or moving when slicing and turn the handle quite quickly when slicing, helps with stopping the slice of bread getting stuck under the handle. This also slices cooked hams, perfect for sandwiches etc. If you have been looking at this and thinking it’s quite expensive believe me it’s worth every single penny!

This manual bread slicer is a beast—heavy and a bit bulky—but it’s built like a tank and works beautifully. The crank is smooth, and the slices come out perfectly even every time. I love that it has multiple thickness settings, so I can go from thin sandwich slices to thick artisan pieces. Definitely takes up some space, but if you bake or slice bread regularly, it’s worth every inch.

Really nice for slicing sourdough. Pretty expensive though!
