Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula

Don't compare it to the first
This is pretty much a stand alone film, the only similarity between this and the last film are the zombies. If you keep this in mind you should enjoy the film. It's not going to be a classic like Train to Busan but it's definitely a solid 4 star film.If you like zombie flicks and the fast and the furious films you've hit your perfect niche with this one, personally I would have liked less cars and more running. If they do another one I hope it's set in Hong Kong, the narrow lanes in-between the buildings would lend itself perfectly to a Train to Busan type film.

Fun but it aint no Train to Busan
Enjoyable watch. Team goes into N Korea to get some cash with humans and zombies as obstacles. Some decent set pieces which are fun, though they seemed to be done in the style of Sin City graphics wise for some reason. Also seems to have an obsession with cars v zombies, Fast and Furious of the Dead? Overall its a fun enough entry but falls well short of the first, which imo is a classic

Busan in name only
I loved the first Train to Busan. This is a cheap zombie flick with awful cgi car chases and too many sentimental family anguish scenes. Ridiculous driving skills from a teenager. Soldiers living in the Peninsula and satellites not even noticing? I'm sure the army would enter with force in tanks to take any gold stocks or valuables of any kind. Zombies running on all fours and other annoyances. A wasted sequel. I felt nothing for the characters, especially the children. Busan in name only.

Everything and MORE to make the perfect zombie sequel. Beyond innovatively brilliant.
Sheer luck this came up as a follow on from Train to Busan. Such a brilliant idea for survivors of the zombie apocalypse four years prior to be tempted into returning to the so called desert lands to retrieve the spoils left behind. My only real bug bear about all zombie movies is that scientifically it would be impossible for them to survive for even a few weeks without a source of food, so albeit thankfully these events will never become reality, I have to allow myself to ignore these impossibilities. That said the return of a group of Koreans that had escaped to Hong Kong and offered the opportunity to return to find unimaginable fortune turns out to become a nightmare between hoards of surviving zombies and groups, gangs of survivors with strong territorial dispositions. Thankfully guns make the zombies relatively easy to contain. Guns together with other ingenious devices have enabled the survivors to reestablish a new culture based on gangland fear, bartering and entertainment often involving the use of imprisoned zombies in colosseum type events where insurgents are played against the zombies. The whole narrative is all immersive in both suspense and intensity. Nothing but superlatives for the whole production, , acting, cinematics direction and production. Nothing is perfect and doubtless bits and pieces will annoy viewers in different ways but for me this was everything I need for a perfect sci-fi movie. Just as good as it’s iconic prequel if not at times better. But you don’t need to se the prequel as this stands on its own.

While not as good as THE TRAIN TO BUSAN, it’s still fantastic
First off this is from the makers of THE TRAIN TO BUSAN and marketed as being set in the same universe while not being a direct sequel. While it’s not as perfect as that previous movie, it is still the best movie of 2020 easily, none of the Hollywood movies recently match the scale or pace of this one, from the look and feel it’s quite inspired by movies like MAD MAX 2 and LAND OF THE DEAD and it is bookended with an emotional core. I won’t spoil it, however it tells the story of some people who go back to an island to retrieve a lost cache of money. It all goes wrong and some of them find their humanity. Cinematography, sound and visual effects are superb. It is spectacular. While not as brilliant as THE TRAIN TO BUSAN, it is still awesome, which just those to show how great that movie was. This is well worth watching, a great Friday night popcorn blaster that will have you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this.

Yet another dystopian Mad Max-and a very poor copy at that
Why is it that in a dystopian- end of the world future (Which the Korean peninsula faces in this film) do they always revert to some form of replicating large parts Mad Max. We have the fight cage, we have the chase of multiple vehicles through city streets in pursuit of that one main escape vehicle and we have roads that are remarkably clear of abandoned cars to leave a nice route for the chase .What a disappointment compared to Train to Busan. The acting of the main characters is ok but the "baddies" are a joke.Dont waste your money

Peninsula.
This is a descent film, more car based than train, but it still works as an action/horror film, the only real downside was the subtitles, when the actors are speaking Korean we have English subs, but when they speak English, we sill have English sub, which does get annoying, otherwise, a good film.
