Reliable Design, But, Delicate Reed Switch will Not Support Rated High Currents
The Float Switch is of a reliable design if carefully installed so as to properly seal the cable connections and switch body. The float moves through a relatively narrow arc and the depth needs to be set carefully. It should be possible to mount it vertically, as shown in the ad photos, or horizontally. The principal of operation is simple. The vertical cylinder protruding from the base unit simply contains a small magnetic reed switch that closes in the presence of a magnetic field. The float arm is magnetic. I assume it is a cylinder which has a magnet inside, as it is stainless on the exterior. When the float arm is in the proximity of the base the magnet moves near the reed switch and it closes. The reed switch is quite small. It will not handle a lot of current. The rated 1.5 A at over 200 V is impossible. I won't conjecture as to the actual rating. But, I would use this switch in conjunction with a control current only and drive a relay for higher power applications. Using this switch for anything directly, like pump or even solonoid control will surely destroy the device.Because of the sealed reed switch design there should be no sparks. But, it is not rated for use with flammable liquids. So, I wouldn't use it that way. There is no mention as to the types of liquids it will perform in, only that the stainless is corrosion resistant. But, what about the seals and plastic used? Will they be destroyed by petroleum based liquids?I like the switch and the simple reliable design. I also love the very low price. It's a great value. But, the specifications are inaccurate and the usage environment is not specified. Also, zero instructions or even a simple data sheet is included. While it is perfect for my water tank empty notification application, it may not work for other applications. I am inclined to drop down to three stars. But, the low cost should modulate expectations. So, I am going up to four stars. Add accurate specs and throw in a instruction sheet and it easily hits 100%.

The specification for this device is wrong. It will die at rated current.
I put 208Vrms at 1.5A through this switch and it failed closed
