Q: My normal laces normally chaff and cut through on the quick release catches of my boots ...will these survive this problem?

Not sure. However my partner was going through a pair of laces every 3-4 weeks on his hiking books, these ones are going strong 2=months on.

Q: Has anyone claimed against the guarantee for a broken lace?

If you purchase these from Big Laces then we have a deal with the manufacturer where we honour the guarantee on their behalf. So far we've had to replace 2 pairs of failed laces out of the hundreds we've sold so they are far superior to other laces but not 100% unbreakable given enough time. Hope that helps.DaveBig Laces

Those that I bought have strong plastic tips. Have been using them so far for about a year on a safety boots in a muddy and oily environment and no signs of deterioration so far!

Don’t know the answer to your question but I purchased a pair off these laces for my work boots and haven’t had any problems with them and there is no sign off wear and that is what I purchased them for
