Gorgeous lens with super performance!
This lens looks so good! It's a very sharp lens with smooth bokeh. Bought for shooting in darker conditions so having f1.4 is perfect. Used on a Sony FX6 and FX3 and the performance is exceptional. Better than the Sony lenses we use. Autofocus is spot on and performs very quickly. Colour rendition is excellent and grades very well in Post. Having a switchable click on the aperture is very useful too and it can be set to Auto aperture if needed.

Decent VERY SHARP lens for reasonable price but autofocus...
Had a good test on this lens and have to say well impressed with how sharp this lens is even at F1.4 and at F2 is insane . Corners just as sharp as centre of lens and ... well cant say anything bad about image for the price as same Sony lens is extra £400 at least. Lens is light and compact which wins over Sony as well but focus is hit and miss in every way from accuracy to speed and would say works flawlessly 70% of the times. But hey, you cant have it all perfect and image quality is most important factor when buying lens.

Outstanding
Outstanding lens in every way. Can't fault this on any level personally. The auto-focus is insanely fast. Quality wise is also next level, more than most could want. They've done well with the weight, isn't anywhere near as heavy as I thought it'd be. Well worth the money for those that're unsure.

Awesome 85mm lens
I love the Sigma art series. I had the original 85mm f1. 4 for DSLR, and even kept my DSLR after I went mirrorless, simply to carry on using that lens. Then this was released, actually designed to use with mirrorless, so I had to have it. Optically it seems just as good as its predecessor. Some of the reviews point out the pin cushion distortion, which is quite pronounced. But it's a 2 second fix in Lightroom, or ACR, and tbh doesn't show up on portraits anyway. It is half the weight and size of its predecessor, so doesn't feel unbalanced at all on a mirrorless camera - unlike some of the other Sigma lenses (eg 105mm). Not everyone likes shooting at 85mm, but if you so this is a fraction of the price of the Sony f1. 4 and just as good optically. It's more expensive than a Sony f1. 8, which I used to own, but considerably better quality. I also own the Sigma 105mm, which is great optically but stupidly large and heavy. Much prefer using this one. If I had known this was coming out, I would never have bought the 105mm.

Perfection for a bargain
I've been looking for a prime lens for a while now, since I already have a 24-70 and a 100-400 lens, I wanted something in-between and the 85mm seemed like a good fit to complement the others. So far I am completely blown away by the quality of this, my first time experiencing just how sharp a prime lens is compared to a zoom. I think what I like most about it is that it forces you to think and move to get the shot, having a zoom lens made me really lazy, now I feel like I'm putting in the work to get the shot I want. I can't think of any real negatives, it doesn't have Steady Shot, but it's 85mm so I don't think it needs it. 5/5 - This thing is incredible and well worth the money

Ridiculous sharpness and bokeh from this lens. Excellent value for money when getting GM like pictures.

Fantastic!
I don't often leave reviews for lenses but this has blown me away. I own the Sony 24mm and 135mm GM lenses which are very well regarded and in sharpness, colour and autofocus speed, this lens is every bit their equal. Its also smaller and lighter than the Sony 85mm GM, which I previously owned. All round, one of the very best lenses I've used on a Sony system. Highly recommended.

Impecable

Pros: Image quality out of this thing is beautiful. Bokeh rendering is stunning. So creamy. This lens is sharp wide open. Looks great. Flaring/ghosting is super well controlled for an 85 1.4 lens. It's definitely a step up from the older sigma art 85 1.4 in just about every way. I love that they are including aperture rings on their newer lens, and they're implementation is really pro. Cons: While lighter than the OG Sigma 85 1.4, this lens is definitely still heavier than the new GM 85 1.4 II. You will notice it. Now the biggest con to this lens, and it is still barely a con for most photographers and videographers, is going to be the AF speed. Don't get it twisted, this lens focus' really well in most situations. It's only when you have fast moving subjects or a subject wearing glasses where you start to see the difference between this lens and modern first party Sony lens'. Based on my experience, I would say this lens actually probably focuses about on par, or maybe a little bit better than the original Sony 85 1.4 GM, but is noticeably slower than the Sony 85 1.4 GM II. If you are shooting portraits, landscapes, still life, or lifestyle then you'll never notice these limitations. But once you start trying to shoot athletics, sports, kids running around, you will start to notice your hit rate drop a bit. In Summary: Technically the Sony 85 1.4 GM II has superior image quality. In reality, you will not notice the difference ever. This lens is very sharp, and actually performs better than the original GM lens that was incredibly popular for years. Unless you are planning to shoot sports with your 85mm... which I've done, but there are better lenses for that specific job even if the new G Master is capable of keeping up... then I can totally recommend this Sigma Art lens. I've included a few sample images I took when this lens first came in.
