Disciplines of a Godly Young Man

Honestly this book has aided me in many ways in my personal walk with Christ. Allowing me to see as a young adult the ways I ought to behave and act. I truly recommend this book to every young teenager to young adult. Eye opening. Reading it as a good supplement when reading the Bible. 🙌😁

Very good book. Does what it says on the tin. American bias, but solid biblical advice for young men. Would recommend it to mid/ late teens prior to going off to university

I’ve been reading Disciplines of a Godly Young Man with my three oldest boys, and it has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. This book does an excellent job calling young men to pursue holiness and maturity in a world that constantly pulls them toward comfort and compromise. Hughes and his son write with wisdom, honesty, and a fatherly tone that connects well with young men who want to take their faith seriously. Each chapter provides biblical encouragement and practical guidance in areas like purity, integrity, perseverance, and humility. The discussion questions have sparked some of the best spiritual conversations we’ve had as a family. I appreciate how the authors don’t shy away from calling young men to discipline and self-control, yet they always point back to the grace and strength we find in Christ. It’s a powerful reminder that godliness doesn’t happen by accident—it’s cultivated through intentional devotion to the Lord. I highly recommend this book to fathers, youth leaders, and especially young men who want to grow in their walk with God.

This phenomenal book written by the infamous Father-Son duo teaches a man self-control and how to restrain themselves from urges and passions that wage war against the soul relentlessly. It does not shy away from tackling the contemporary challenges that face men today in the increasingly perverse culture we face ourselves in. The authors regularly record the great prophets of the day namely, King David among other characters in the Bible that had their own particular challenges and how we can ultimately learn from their mistakes and apply Godly discipline in our day to day lives.
