I had one of these years ago and it cracked when I left it out in winter. This one I remembered to bring in. Nothing simpler, although I don't know what to do with the little gauge with the spike; I hung the big one on a screw on a fence.

I've been through a couple of glass rain gauges and they were too small and hard to read. The five inches this rain gauge holds is plenty so that I can go out of town for the weekend, come back, it it won't be past the five inches. My mailman was admiring it so I bought him his own. I like this, great price, easy to read, easy to put in soil. Would buy again.

may crack if water freezes in it

Simple, accurate gage. Stick it in the ground or screw to a post. Do not leave outside in freezing weather with water in it as the ice will crack the material

I have placed this in my potted plant and it stays in place in the wind when raining.

I have purchases many expensive rain gauges that are wildly inaccurate. This little cheapie is dead on accurate. Go figure.

I want a rain gauge that will not freeze outside and split in the freezing weather.

Product is accurate, easy to read, and easy to place for ran measurements.

I like the fact that I get 2 rain meters, one large, and one small, that I can place in my front yard as well as in my back yard. They both can be spiked in the ground, or clipped to a fence post, which the latter was my place of choice. It will be interesting to see how long the plastic will last with the sun's uv rays, but I would think it should last a few years. However, at this price, I would simply purchase these again.

It told me there was 2” rain last night and confirmed many good and dry spots about my sprinkler system. Now, I need to spend some money to change the lousy design from my builder!

I assume the difference is due to the slightly smaller opening on the smaller rain gauge.I will be comparing it to my other gauges.
