Groundbreaking new features
This shovel is a great camping/survival shovel. So this shovel has a lot of the “standard” features that many shovels in this class carry, such as a bendable shovel head, a blade on the shovel for chopping, a section of the shovel head for sawing, a bottle opener, a nail puller, a wrench, an emergency whistle, a fire starter, knife, and a safety hammer for breaking glass. Don’t get me wrong, this is a ton of features in a small, lightweight, portable package (lets be honest, when it comes to camping/survival gear, light weight and multi-function cannot be overlooked). The affordability also cannot be overlooked. At under $60, this is quite a bargain. However, the features do not end there. I have a few of these type of shovels and this is the first one to include a hook knife. However, what is truly unique and stands out about this shovel is that the sections of the shovel do not simply screw together.......this shovel has locking pieces! Yes I said locking pieces! The extension bars are inserted and are screwed only a quarter of a turn. As illustrated in the photos, this shovel has little tabs that lock the attachments into place. Not only does this allow one to add multiple extensions (and remove) quickly, but they secure the attachments into place. This is particularly noteworthy if one intends to do some heavy labor with this tool. Other brands that screw in are nice, but often require additional tightening after heavy work. With the locking mechanism, this shovel does not loosen during heavy work. The shovel head is collapsed or moved 90 degrees to convert into a hoe via a similar feature. There are two buttons on each side of the shovel head. Once depressed, it allows the shovel head to be moved. Other models I have examined have a sort of a collar that tightens or loosens. There are also some other nice features of this shovel that the manufacturer does not mention in their description. The first is that on the back of the shovel head there are thick ledges ( as seen in my pictures). This is a nice feature that many other shovels do not have. The ledge is ideal for digging in tightly packed dirt, or dirt that has a lot of roots. This ledge allows a person to place more force on the shovel to more easily dig in tough dirt. I have seen this feature on many large standard shovels that cannot collapse into a small package (I have a 6 foot craftsman shovel that is great for digging but far to big to take camping or kept in a car and this shovel has this feature). I have had the opportunity to work with three or four other survival/camping shovels and this is the first shovel to have this feature. Many shovels of this type have the typical slender back to the shovel. Let me tell you, if you are digging a trench or deep hole, you will appreciate this feature, and so will your foot.Another feature of this shovel that is not advertised is that the end of the shovel has a section of paracord. Anyone who is into survival will know that paracord is worth its weight in gold. This section can be used for tying, replace shoe laces that break, etc. For those who do not know, paracord is used in parachutes and are often used as lines for climbing. Having paracord with this shovel for emergencies is a nice added bonus. The shovel also comes with a storage bag which makes carrying and storing the bag easy. There is also a separate sheath or cover for the shovel. The total length of the shovel, with all extension bars is 38.5 inches, which is greatly appreciated when you are over 6” tall. The shovel also has a lifetime guarantee. While I have not personally had any need to contact the company about this product, I have dealt with this company regarding other products. I can tell you they are friendly, quick to respond to questions, and fully back their products. If anything fails or breaks, they are quick to fix or replace the item. This warranty alone makes the purchase price worth every penny. Many of the other survival shovels have limited warranties or none at all. This one has a LIFETIME warranty!Couple all this with a price tag of under $60 and this product is truly a great investment. I intend to keep one at home, one in the car, one in my spouse’s car......

This shovel is a good addition to any bugout bag or camping Kit.
I was pleasently surprised by the quality and strength of the MOLLE bag it comes in, it's actually very high quality, on par with my mil-tech MOLLE pouches that cost $20 by themselves. The shovel itself is heavy and well constructed, it comes with some lubrication on the threads and they are pretty smooth out of the box. When fully extended it does a good job ofdigging a latrine or cathole, It is a little on the small side for me, a few inches longer would have been ideal but then it probably wouldn't have fit into such a small and portable package which I really like. It comes with an ok edge for a shovel but I sharpened it further so it's a pretty decent axe for small branches/kindling.It comes with a few extras that fit inside the shovel so no chance to lose them. Cheap plastic compass (does work), a pretty loud whisle, scaling/serrated knife (not bad), magnesium rod to start a fire and ice breaker. These are things you should already have in your kit but its nice to have a backup inside this shovel just in case.In short, it's a great replacement for the tiny garden shovel I usually take camping makes digging those holes much quicker and unless I plan to cut down some serious wood I can probably leave the big Axe at home next time.

Short, rusts a bit, but generally good.
No complaints. It folds up well, is very sturdy and useful. Shorter than expected.

Great shovel for the money!
Great shovel for the money! Used it on a trip as our camp shovel. Overall we were very impressed. Very nice built does not feel cheap and has a length. Folds to a nice size for transport and extends for greater length, also you can change the degree of the shovel blade from straight, 50 degree to a 90 degree angle. The saw is very useful it can cut down small trees. Light and easy to use and it did everything we could have wanted it to do. It dug holes, buried fish guts, scooped out fire grates and cut wood effectively. So far it's exactly what I hoped it would be.Highly recommend!!!

Great piece in a time of need
Great piece in a pinch. Small, lightweight, seems durable. Awesome shovel for keeping in your car or going on a day drip. Easy to carry. Light weight. I wouldn't want to sub this out for a full size shovel or use it for hard manual labor. But for the price it's a good quality piece.Pros- lightweight. Folds up nicely. Comes with a case. PriceCons- handle is plastic. Unique locking mechanism (spin middle of the handle to lock the shovel in place) the reason this is a com is Because I'm personally not sure how well it would stay locked. So it's more of an unknown them a con.

Just OK
Alright for what it is, I suppose. I bought it to replace a small folding shovel for camping, and I went back to the small folding shovel. The screw-together handle is the main downside. It just takes too long to assemble and disassemble.Pros: sharp, steel seems solid so farCons: Heavy, takes a while to put together, doesn't store really easily because of the long assembly time, too may gimmicks with openers and holes that don't really add usability or value

So far so good
I like this little shovel.Yeah, it's not a folder, but I like the longer reach, and it's sharp enough to cut little branches when walking in the woods. It definetly can't replace a full shovel, but it's nice and small to have on hand for emergencies, or to light carry for a trip.
