Flawless by Gabrielle Union - Defining Curl Hair Cream for Curly and Coily Hair, 8 OZ

I have tried COUNTLESS products for natural hair. From the most expensive to the least, and this is the first product that actually works for my hair type. The texture of my hair is really fine and gets frizzy easily. In the past I had to use a combination of 2 or more products (cream & gel) to bring out the curl pattern, but this often left my hair dry and crunchy. With this curl cream, I can actually do a wash and go and my hair looks so beautiful! The product doesn't dry my hair out, it retains moisture and I can go several days without having to re-do it, which is the best part!. I wasn't even aware that G. Union had a hair care line until I saw a video of her washing Kavia's hair. Her marketing team really needs to step up the advertising. I'm sure there are thousands of women of color like me who've struggled to find the right products for their hair without success. The market is oversaturated with products for natural hair, so it can be a challenge to find the perfect fit. I've finally found mine! By the way, the Co-wash shampoo and hair mask are great as well! :)

I have very dry, kinky hair that can be totally unruly. With this Defining Curl Hair Cream for Curly and Coily Hair, it is under control! I wash my hair with the Flawless Shampoo, use a conditioner, then braid my hair with the Cream in it! When I take it down my husband loves it! That was important as I have straightened my hair since I was a child and have never allowed my husband to see my "natural" hair because I didn't think it was pretty. Now, I do! And with his reaction I will continue to use the flawless products. I used to envy girls that had hair that looks the way mine does now. I'm still experimenting and learning what to do with it as it is long and thick, but this product gave me hope. I was very depressed not being able to go to the salon due to the pandemic, but now I am happy with my hair again and proud that I can show my natural hair! You can experiment with how much of this you need because it depends upon your texture. I think more for tighter hair. Our hair was always beautiful, but I think that like myself, many of us did not know it because we didn't have the right products to bring that out. My daughter has curly and fluffy hair so we use this every morning to flat out her hair when putting in a pony tail. It does get freezy again later on but then again she’s only 7 and active. It smells so good. I bought 3 so far!

This product is an outstanding value, it’s especially good for naturally curly hair and would be great on hair that has been colored.

This product is light I have soft curly hair but can frizz out .. this product helps to remain the moisture in my hair keeping in soft I always apply on damp hair... I just apply through out and the shape with fingers

I love the Flawless haircare line and use the heat protectant and edge gel religiously so I figured I would give this product a try. That was a mistake. I should have done more research because, in the end, my hair felt really heavy. Maybe I used too much conditioner at once but my hair was really thirsty before I applied it so I thought I wasn't doing any harm but it felt really unpleasant. I couldn't wear my hair down naturally and had to throw it in a bun because it just looked so strange. I think this product would work great for someone with super dry hair or maybe if you have normal hair and just use a tiny amount. I have mixed African and Filipina hair and my hair is naturally wavy.

I offer up this review not bash the efforts of Gabrielle Union, but to provide constructive feedback. I was excited to try out this brand! I have rocked natural hair for 7+ years and used a variety of natural hair products. To start off I am a 4a/4b mix with medium-high porosity. The Co-wash has a nice light scent and did a good job cleansing my hair and leaving scalp clean. Next, I used the repairing deep conditioning hair masque. I opted to do a “deep conditioning” treatment by leaving on my hair under hair cap for 45 min. While applying the conditioner and detangling, I noticed the conditioner was thick but did not have have much slip. It also coated my strands, but unlike other conditioners I have used before, it did not seem to soak into my strands (note: I have medium-high porosity hair, so usually this is not an issue). After rinsing out the conditioner, my hair felt dry, weighed down and not soft. Normally after 5 min of conditioner and detangling and washing out, my curls are well nourished, hydrated and bouncing. But this hair masque did not leave my hair this way. Next up, I placed the defining curl hair cream. The cream was very sticky and also felt like it sat on top and coated my strands, weighing down my hair, but not providing any rejuvenation to my hair or providing definition to my curls. I decided to try a braid out since I didn’t like the way it sat in a wash n go style. Upon the next morning, the texture of my hair felt dry and sticky. I removed the braids and again was disappointed on how the products left my hair feeling dry and lifeless. This hair line reminds me of old school hair products that made black women believe that a ton of oil and cream coated on our strands is what best keeps our hair healthy…however we all know now that products that simply sit on strands are not necessarily nourishing, but in fact can be drying. In the end, I decided to wash out the product because of how brittle and sticky my hair felt. I have returned these items and will not use again. Hope this review was helpful.
