Awesome Clippers (once I overcame my hair loss denial)
I am in my early 50s and for the past years my hair, as expected, has been thinning. Not the good kind of thinning where it starts in the top back part of the head, but rather in the top front, where every time you look in the mirror you just cannot escape reality. About three years ago, I made the decision to go short with my hair. I started out with #2 clippers on the side, and #3 on top. I found myself going to get my hair cut about every three weeks and over time, I realized I had to go every other week. This started adding up financially, so I fired my barber who wanted $20/cut (I live in the DC metro area, so things are a little pricey here) and found a $15/cut barber. I used them for about a year before I realized I had to go to #1 for side and #2 for top and then, you guessed it, I had to go every other week. Factoring in 10 minute drive each way to/from the barber and coupled with the great aniticipation of whether I would just immediately be seated or whether I would get to enjoy 30 minutes of web surfing while I wait, I came to the conclusion that maintaining (what is left of) my hair just was too time intensive. It's not like I will be styling or blow drying my hair ever again. So all in, haircuts were taking too much time from my other duties a/k/a "The Honey-Do List." So I went out and purchased grooming clippers (a different kind, you know, cheap ones to test out because at some point my hair would miraculously re-spawn and I could throw those clippers out) to do my own hair. As expected they worked great, but because they were somewhat narrow it took some time to balden the head. So one night I am hanging out with my friend Todd who has the same, uh hum, gifted hairline and he tells me about this Remington product. It sounded good but I already had a set of clippers but alas my wife was listening and, like most wives, she has a memory that is everlasting. So fast-forward it is Fathers Day 2018 and I open a gift from my kids and it's is these clippers. I opened the package and my kids immediately wanted to see me use them, and so I did. My reaction? WOW!! I LOVE THESE CLIPPERS, so here is my review: * They work great * The curvature speeds up the cut * The unit is very ergonomic and really fits nicely in my hand * It is remarkably quiet, so when clipping around the ears it's not deafening * I love that it is cordless which makes it easy to use * It is priced right, it pays for itself in only 3 to 4 haircuts. But the big thing I like is that it works so well that I have now reclaimed a ton of time from going to the barber so I can do other things.

Great haircut trimmer that'll save you money
This is an excellent haircut trimmer. I use this around every 4 to 5 weeks for my haircut. Used to cost me around 20 to $25 a haircut so it has saved me a over a 150 dollars a year. I like my hair a little bit longer on top and short on the sides and back and this haircutter works perfectly with that. I use a number 8 on top and either 1 or 2 on the sides and back. It comes with 9 length clipper guards you can also buy extra clipper guards online like a number 7 or number 8 clipper guards. The Haircut trimmer fits in the Palm of your hand and its light so it's easy to use it. The Haircut trimmer is easy to clean by releasing the blade and running it underwater. I also use this haircut trimmer to trim my beard when it gets long. The haircut trimmer is also easy to charge. Overall I highly recommend getting this haircut trimming kit.

Best clippers for buzz cut
I've been rockingna buzz cut for a little over 6 years and these are my favorite trimmers. I've used these religiously for about 5 years, not taking good care of them at ALL and they still lasted. I bought these as a replacement. And honestly I'm sure I could get the old ones back in prime condition with very minimal TLC. The curved blade makes a huge difference when doing an all over buzz

Battery sucks, but otherwise a decent trimmer for balding guys
Purchased this in August of 2022, and it just crapped out on me as of October 2025. Used at least once a week over those three years. Bought it despite having seen complaints about the questionable longevity of the battery. It worked pretty well- it's a great tool for guys new to hair loss and keeping a tight crop themselves. For those looking for a razor-caliber shave, this isn't the right device for that. I would still use a razor, foil shaver or oneblade in areas to reach complete smoothness. But it is really good for maintaining a "0.5" length. It also works perfectly in the shower and is very easy to clean. Wish it lasted me longer, but for $60, it's a little unfair to expect too much. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could, but based on how well it worked over three years, I think 3 stars is a bit too low. If anyone from Remington happens to see this review, here are the product improvements I'd suggest that could help bring this up to a 5-star product: 1. Battery Life (long term)- Not sure if it's by design to get people to buy them more frequently, but the longevity of the battery is easily the worst aspect of the product. Capacity steadily reclined throughout the three years I owned this. 2. Battery Capacity (short term)- Even out of the box, I'd only get about 10 min of run time per charge. Would be nice if it had a little more capacity 3. On/Off Button - Often when I had the trimmer packed in a toiletry bag for travel, it would turn on by itself. It's a small issue, but one that could be remedied by either making the button more recessed, or providing a hard plastic case for the trimmer

Great! But maybe not for everyone?
Update: 10/30/17 - Over the last week the unit has started to turn itself off mid-clipping. Typically once it feels the least bit of resistance. I don't have a lot of hair on my head in the first place, so when I say the "least bit" I really mean it. I sent an email to Remington last night. They asked me to provide them with a code behind the blade and now I have a replacement on the way! Hooray! So my 5-star rating remains intact. I still love this thing. Add now to that great customer service and I'm a happy bald guy! Update: 6/14/17 - I've had this for almost a year and a half now. Still love it. Still no issues with the battery. Still 5 Stars. Still annoyed there isn't a self-cleaner for it. HA! I bought one for my father during the holidays and he's happy so far. First I want to point out that the blade is 2.5 inches long compared to ordinary clippers which are traditionally 1.5 inches. I haven't seen that extra width pushed very much by Remington but it makes a big difference. I was pleasantly surprised when I received mine and actually saw the unit. I personally rate this 5 stars; but, I'm not sure it would be 5 stars for others. I've been shaving my head consistently since I was a teenager. Then in my late 20's it pretty much became a requirement as premature balding kicked in. None of us want the "old man horseshoe head" look. So I've been through about a dozen clippers over the last 25 years. Thus, I don't use any of the guides it came with. So I can't comment on their effectiveness. What I can point out are some of the positives: trimmed my hair faster than any other clipper ever, cordless, quiet (for a clipper), the wide blade (again), doesn't get hot, easy to hold and change grasps for different shaving directions, no razor burn, and the blades are curved. Don't overlook this idea of a curved blade. At first I blew it off but once experienced you realize it is way more comfortable and form fitting on your head and neck. Full disclosure, I had purchased the "Philips Norelco QC5580/40 Do-It-Yourself Hair Clipper Pro" a week prior to this unit through Amazon. I'm in the minority here (based on the reviews for the QC5580) but I was not happy with it at all. I followed the instructions as suggested for shaving my head. You should use the clipper portion first, then you switch to a shaving adapter which gets to the scalp. I have pretty thick hair (for what remains around the sides) so it required too many "passes" for my satisfaction. For those of you that shave your head to the scalp you will understand what I mean. It's tedious to go over the same portion over and over. I also had razor burn the next day. So I sent that one back. Amazon was kind enough to provide me with a full refund. Now for some "cons" (just to be fair): - Cleaning is a little awkward. Instructions say you need to wipe the blade with the included brush, then rinse the blade under water while the unit is running, then disconnect the blade from the unit and rinse both the blades and the unit individually, then dry everything, then put it all back together and use mineral oil on the blades, finally wipe off any excess mineral oil. Each time you use the unit! Ok, so it takes maybe 2+ minutes. But in an age when facial razors are self-cleaning, it just seems like this could have a cleaning unit as well. If one exists I'd love to know about it. - You will NOT get a smooth feel or look from this clipper. This to me is why some individuals will not give this 5 stars. And to an extent I toyed with giving it 4 stars because of it as well. But I've personally only found three ways to get a smooth-to-the-scalp shave. You either utilize a hand razor (very slow, requires shaving cream, and usually razor burn of some sort); purchase a Philips Norelco 1280X (yes, use an electric razor on your head); or my preferred method by a long shot invest in a Braun 790cc. Nothing beats the Braun 790cc for speed and performance. Plus, it obviously shaves your face and is self-cleaning. In a perfect world I can use my Braun every other day and maintain a skin tight look. Some of you might say "so why the Hell did you buy this thing"? But the reality is, life keeps you busy if you have kids and sometimes you get lazy and the old-man hair creeps in over a few days. In those situations, the Braun has a rough time cutting the "longer" hair. It is meant for your face after all. That's where this baby comes into play. The HC4250 trims it down just enough to get you by for the day, and more importantly sets you up to start using the Braun again. To be honest, I'm also putting this review out here for selfish reasons. I don't want it to get discontinued! I finally have something that can clean me up quickly. If this unit ever dies I really don't want to go back to a Wahl, Conair, or Oster! It's not perfect, but it gets the job done for my needs.

For military guys, this should be standard issue.
This is an astoundingly good product and one I would whole-heartedly recommend to any other military members who maintain a "high and tight" haircut - but the purchase needs to be accompanied by three other purchases to round out your order and make this Remington what you really need it to be: A time-saver that keeps you looking sharp and saves you a profound amount of money over the course of a calendar year. Purchase #1: Buy a small mirror that has regular reflection on one side and 3x reflection on the other. For military members who will be doing some travelling over the course of your year I advise getting one with a handle that folds for ease of transportation. The mirror is a crucial element to ensuring a solid haircut, allowing you to use it in concert with your bathroom mirror to see all angles. Purchase #2: Some hair gel. Getting your system and dexterity down will take a few weeks/months. In that time you can easily blur mistakes and imperfections with a little stickum. Purchase #3: A haircut. Get your hair exactly how you want it - be critical and exacting, even if you normally aren't too picky in a barber's chair. This will be your last time visiting the barber so get it right. Once you have your hair to its perfectly desired length, your job will be to maintain it right there. It's far easier than you might think (at least for those of us with high and tights and other military cuts). I spend about 30-55 seconds every morning maintaining my haircut. The hair I cut is so miniscule it doesn't require any special hair-catching contraptions. I just wear the t-shirt I wore to bed and once finished I take it off, throw it in the hamper and hop in the shower. The time it takes me every morning is constantly improving. (I would suspect your first few attempts will take significantly longer) It varies however on my level of grogginess or if I feel like I need to trim some places in greater detail. But any way you hack it, it is a breeze. One of the most charming design features of this device is its ergonomics...it is truly easy to handle and you will have a great sense of control from the very first time you use it. I would STRONGLY recommend only ever cutting with your dominant hand however, to ensure an even cut and predictable results. You might feel like it makes sense to switch hands when doing opposite sides of your head but once you get some muscle memory down and have learned how to utilize your mirror, having one hand married to the razor and the other to the mirror will result in faster and more even results. I have been concerned with how my razor will hold up with daily use. It has shown no signs of unusual wear, however. A creature of habit, I make my friday haircut the day I lube it. Two simple drops on each end and I run it for 15 seconds. I remain curious to see how it ages...I am not subjecting it to long periods of cutting, or asking it to chop down huge trees of hair. I've assigned it light duty but it never gets a rest. Will update this review in time, but i feel like even if it only lasts me a year or two it's saved me a ton of money and given me the fresh haircut look every day. (With tip, I was spending about $480 a year on haircuts). I cannot possibly recommend this product enough. It is a truly well-designed and executed razor, made of solid elements designed to last. Buy, apply my tips (add your own) and make it part of your daily routine. You will not be sorry.

Why I Love the Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit (And You Should Too!)
Why I Love the Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit (And You Should Too!) If you're looking for a convenient and easy way to cut your own hair at home, you might want to check out the Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit. This kit comes with everything you need to achieve a professional-looking haircut without spending time and money at the salon. Here are some of the features and benefits of this product that I personally love. - The ergonomic design: The HC4250 has a curved blade that fits the shape of your head, allowing you to cut your hair evenly and comfortably. The handle is also rubberized and fits in your palm, giving you more control and precision. - The cordless operation: The HC4250 has a rechargeable lithium battery that gives you up to 40 minutes of cordless runtime. You can also use it while plugged in if you need more time. The cordless feature makes it easy to move around and reach any spot on your head without getting tangled in wires. - The accessories: The HC4250 comes with nine combs of different lengths, ranging from 1/16 inch to 5/8 inch. You can choose the length that suits your style and preference. The combs are also color-coded for easy identification. The kit also includes a cleaning brush, a storage pouch, and oil for the blades. - The performance: The HC4250 has stainless steel blades that are sharp and durable. They cut through any hair type and thickness with ease and speed. The blades are also washable, so you can rinse them under running water after each use to keep them clean and hygienic. Of course, no product is perfect and there are some drawbacks that you should be aware of before buying the HC4250. - The noise level: The HC4250 is not very quiet when it's running. It can be annoying if you're trying to cut your hair in a quiet environment or if you don't want to disturb others around you. - The battery life: The HC4250 has a decent battery life of 40 minutes, but it can vary depending on how thick your hair is and how often you use it. You might need to charge it more frequently if you have thick or long hair or if you use it every day. - The learning curve: The HC4250 is easy to use once you get the hang of it, but it might take some practice and patience to master it. You might need to experiment with different angles, lengths, and techniques to get the best results. You might also need some help from someone else to reach the back of your head or other hard-to-reach areas. I've been using the HC4250 for a few months now and I'm very happy with the results. It saves me time and money, and it gives me the freedom to experiment with different styles and lengths. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to cut their own hair at home with confidence and convenience.

Best clippers for cutting your own hair
I bought this because it is easy to use one handed, weighs very little l, and provides a quality cut. The 4 stars is because the plastic attachments are not super durable. I have had several tips break from normal use and storage. I would buy again, but is worth noting.
