Both me and my granddaughter love this movie

Loved the cartoon as a kid and this was just so fun.Good story, great effects, the CGI pokemon blend really well with live action.Is it the greatest movie made? no, but it's fun and easy to watch, a great introduction to pokemon for new fans and fun for me who grew up with the cartoons sit was awesome to see them come to life.

Impulse buy but I haven't regretted watching it. Overall this is a good movie for young people (as Ryan Reynolds doesn't swear like he usually does for his adult-centric film roles). I think you'd have to have a fairly good knowledge of Pokemon beforehand as this film doesn't explain what they are or why they exist. As a newcomer who hasn't played the games or watch the cartoons, and after watching this film, I'm still not sure what their function is or why people have them. I don't think they are portrayed as pets but something more intrinsic or essential. I've seen the Golden Compass movie and the people in that world have animals that accompany them as deamons, and a person who does not have a deamon is seen as some kind of unnatural freak. So here the main character (Tim Goodman) is looked upon as unfathomable and weird because he does not have a pokemon by choice. Other than this bizarrely unaddressed issue, the story is entertaining and almost matches "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" in its similarity with the 'Who dunnit' mystery plot. I bought the Special Edition and the bonus disc has a few behind-the-scenes documentaries but nothing indepth about the film-making process really.

Good film for the grandchildren

I've never been a fan of Pokemon, in fact hated the craze back in the late 90s to 2000s. But recently came across a trailer that made it look epic and funny, and then there's Ryan Reynolds doing the voice (whom I like). Also, prime where doing a deal on purchase of this movie on streaming.Side note: If you're a Rita Ora fan, don't get your expectations up. She doesn't have much screen time overall. In this cut at least. She plays scientist.The acting overall by all the actors was good, there was no stand out performance. The whole movie didn't gel well from scene to scene i.e. there wasn't a smooth flow from one scene to the next. There's an entire sequence of action, which doesn't add any value to the story line and the destination, it only serves to appease Pokemon fans, which isn't a bad thing I guess.There are a couple of scenes where if they were written and directed properly could've been real "Tug at the heart strings" moments. This movie falls into the category of comedy, it provides some laughs along the way but nothing original nor memorable.Some of the story line is a little obvious to a grown up, but would keep young children entertained. Personally I didn't like the ending. I was like "what...memory wipe....why????"This is a movie, you'll watch and forget. Unless you have young kids, who have it on repeat :-(I wouldn't be surprised if this movie is available free on Prime soon or including in the other big subscription based streaming service. So, if you can then wait a little.

We watched this the first time when it was free. In fact a few times then. But movie night rolls in our house and my oldest boy chose it again. Still great story line and film for the whole family. Well we totally enjoyed it ever time 🤗

A dream come true, a series I've been in love with since gen1 on the game boy brought to life by the magic of cinema!This movie has nostalgia for the established fans and is a great introduction for those new to the Pokėmon franchise.Justice Smith does an amazing job of making you believe pikachu is really there and that they're having a conversation.Ryan Reynolds voice coming out of the cute little electric mouse's mouth doesn't seem out of place at all and really helps bring the character of pikachu to life.It's a rollercoaster of emotions watching the story unfold, you'll be happy and sad, you'll feel anxiety on the edge of your seat, hoping these characters that have just charged into your heart make it through safely.This is an amazing movie, but you dont have to take my word for it, watch it and see for yourself.

QUALITÀ DISCO: Blu Ray con Dolby Atmos.RECENSIONE:Ambientato nell'immaginaria città di Ryme City (fusione perfetta di Tokyo, Londra e New York), Detective Pikachu racconta la storia di Tim Goodman (Justice Smith), ragazzo che una volta sognava di fare l'addestratore di Pokémon, ma che, complice una situazione familiare difficile, ha perso ogni stimolo avventuroso, preferendo dedicarsi al più tranquillo campo delle assicurazioni. Non solo: Tim è anche una delle pochissime persone a non avere un Pokémon, fatto per cui è visto con sospetto da amici e colleghi, perché a Ryme City integrazione è la parola d'ordine e i pocket monsters non vengono più usati come macchine da combattimento, ma sono compagni fedeli degli esseri umani. Di più: i Pokémon sono quasi spiriti guida, visto che scelgono di fare coppia con umani con caratteristiche molto simili alle loro. Non avere un Pokémon significa quindi quasi non avere un'identità e in un certo senso per Tim è proprio così: cresciuto dalla nonna, lontano dai genitori per molto tempo, il ragazzo vive quotidianamente un conflitto interiore che una notizia inaspettata renderà impossibile da evitare ulteriormente.Harry Goodman, il padre di Tim, poliziotto di Ryme City è infatti misteriosamente scomparso: se il suo collega, il detective Yoshida (Ken Watanabe) teme il peggio, il Pikachu di Harry ha un'altra versione da raccontare e lo fa, in originale, con la voce di Ryan Reynolds. Contrariamente a quanto fanno i suoi simili, questo Pokémon è speciale: oltre a indossare un cappello da detective e avere una dipendenza seria da caffeina, il Pikachu di Harry parla, parla tanto che non si riesce a fermarlo. Non solo: è dotato di un umorismo pungente, che contrasta con il suo aspetto dolce.Purtroppo però soltanto Tim sembra essere in grado di godere della sua verve comica. Insieme, Tim e Pikachu cercano di scoprire cosa sia successo a Goodman Senior, che sembra stesse indagando su degli esperimenti sospetti sui Pokémon, come rivela a Tim l'aspirante giornalista Lucy Stevens (Kathryn Newton).Sulla carta destinato soltanto a un pubblico di giovanissimi, Detective Pikachu parla in realtà a un pubblico molto più vasto, sopratutto grazie alla prova di Ryan Reynolds, che ha fatto totalmente suo il personaggio, improvvisando diverse battute e dandogli un umorismo particolare. Il mix, dato l'aspetto tenero di Pikachu, è esplosivo. Temi come il cambiamento climatico, il rispetto della natura e degli animali, l'integrazione e l'accettazione, sfiorati grazie all'incontro con i vari Pokémon, sono un di più, ma i veri protagonisti sono i mostri e quindi il divertimento.È impossibile non farsi intenerire dai Pokémon di Detective Pikachu: chi ha giocato ai videogiochi e ha collezionato le carte noterà infiniti riferimenti al mondo dei pocket monsters, che si possono scovare sui cartelloni pubblicitari e sui giornali, sparsi all'interno di scenografie ricchissime di dettagli. L'animazione dei Pokémon è impressionante: Pikachu è animato così bene da sembrare reale, a partire dagli occhi espressivi, circondati da una pelliccia gialla di cui si riesce a individuare ogni singolo pelo.Nonostante nel film vengano inserite moltissime creature (dalle più famose come Charizard, Bulbasaur e Squirtle, a quelle meno conosciute come Lickitung), Detective Pikachu non è una semplice raccolta di Pokémon animati: tutto il film è anzi basato sull'unicità, sul trovare i propri punti di forza che ci permettono di distinguerci dagli altri.Il Pikachu protagonista non è semplicemente un Pikachu, ma è il Pikachu di Harry, con una sua storia e un vissuto che lo rende speciale; è il tempo speso con il Pokémon che lo rende diverso da tutti gli altri.Tutti i Pokémon sono uguali, ma alcuni sono più uguali degli altri: insieme alla comicità di Reynolds e alla bellezza della computer grafica, l'altro asso nella manica di Detective Pikachu è Psyduck: sguardo folle e perenne mal di testa, il Pokémon papero ha una carica comica che nel film emerge in tutta la sua potenza. Perennemente stressato, Psyduck richiede cura e attenzioni costanti: forte di questa condizione, è abituato ad avere tutti ai suoi piedi palmati, tanto da arrivare a chiedere massaggi alle zampe a Pikachu.Inutile dire che è un pessimo partner e proprio per questo c'è un pò di Psyduck in ognuno di noi: bombardato da stimoli visivi e sonori, il Pokémon d'acqua può essere anche una metafora dello spettatore stesso. Pur non essendo privo di difetti (il mistero che fa da motore alla trama è facilmente intuibile, i personaggi umani non sono così approfonditi), Detective Pikachu ha un solo scopo: intrattenere lo spettatore per 104 minuti, coccolandolo come il capriccioso papero giallo.CONSIDERAZIONI FINALI:Sulla carta un film soltanto per i più piccoli, Detective Pikachu, grazie sopratutto alla voce di Ryan Reynolds nella versione originale, che gli dà una carica comica travolgente, arriva a un pubblico molto più vasto, riuscendo a divertire per 104 minuti. La storia è semplice, il mistero che dà il via alla trama si risolve in fretta se si è spettatori attenti e i personaggi umani non sono approfonditi, ma l'umorismo di Reynolds (che ha improvvisato molte battute), la bellezza della computer grafica e il ritmo serrato fanno di Detective Pikachu un buon prodotto di intrattenimento. Chi sognava di vedere come sarebbe il mondo se i Pokémon esistessero davvero può finalmente gioire.

声がおっさんというのがネックで見るのはどうしようかと迷っていましたが、ピカチュウやプリンの画像がすごくかわいかったので思いっきって買ってみました。以外に軽い声のためピカチュウがしゃべっても変な感じがしませんでした。おっさんがピカピカ言うところはすごくピカチュウがかわいいです。もちろんいつものオリジナルのピカの声も聞くことができます。しわしわよりはほっぺたふくらんで見えるところなどの方が私は好みですが、全般イメージが崩れることなくとても良くできています。欲を言えばプリンの歌がもっと聞きたかったです。フシギダネもすごくかわいいですが、ヒックとドランゴンのトゥースレスに激似。ストーリーはなんでやねんって思うところもなくはないですが、キャラのかわいさだけで私は十分堪能できました。
