Disappointed
Others have brought up valid points: the blank pages, the poor packing, the use of images that even casual fans have seen over and over, the lack of more recent photos... Bowie had hundreds of photographers take pictures of him during his life. I was hoping to see other peoples' work that's not been represented in this format previously, or even pictures from 1947-1965.Though with what was here, the photo editing left a lot to be desired. The Schapiro pictures stood out to me immediately for poor reproduction. They were too dark. Some images looked like copies of copies pulled off the internet. Others were blurry, with poor resolution. Not for nothing, but the man's been gone nearly 5 years, and so many have just turned out media for a cash-in, and I'm getting pretty sick of it. I'd been able to steer clear of such merch before, but not this time, I guess. Is it asking too much for the people involved in these projects to do better?

Big bad Bowie book,kinda disappointed!
its BIG, very heavy, what every coffee book should be.(this is the way Dennis o'regans,Serious moonlight book and Taschens TMWFTE book should have been presented!!!,better imho books ,but half the size!) disappointed because alot of the pics you've seen many, many times(just look at cover, these are the pics,(my mistake) ..the paper is nice, but i think if it was glossy, some of the pictures would be more vibrant(schapiro pics).alot of wasted space on ethier blank pages, blurry live shots(wtf!),or pictures bleeding into next page.i wish there were more candid shots(like bowie/iggy bday party pics,or O'regans Serious moonlight shots or live aid pics, instead of album cover pics.(do we need 7 of basically the same picture,Bowies facial hair pics?))like other comments, it should have more pictures taken closer to Blackstar).being a big Bowie fan,i have seen other pics on line and wished that they would be in a printed book form, probably why i bought this.i guess i still have to wait for the real definitive book one day!

Phenomenal Tribute to a Phenomenal Being
This is definitely one of the best David Bowie - related books to date. The excellent photographs span the many years of his career with dense text accompanying each from the photographers associated with each entry. Aside from the content, the overall quality of the book is superb, and a welcome addition to my library.

Amazing
I never thought it would arrive. But when it did was worth the wait. Amazing pictures, have fallen in love with it. Bigger than I thought it would be, but it fits in beautifully with all the other Bowie books on the shelf

It is a brilliant book!
This book is gorgeous. It is lush filled with huge pictures and iconic images. It covers the breadth of Bowie's performing life. It is heavy and very moderately priced for such a treasure.

"Freak Out In A Moon Age Day Dream"
This is the book every Bowie fan has been waiting for. The introduction by George "Brawler" Underwood sets a nice tone to a plethora of well know classics and rarely seen Bowie photos, nicely thought out and put together, well done.

Greatest Hits Of David Bowie Pictures Art Book
Essential picture book for hardcore Bowie fans - NoAnything new for hardcore Bowie fans - NoDefinitive - No wayInteresting text from those photographers who are featured - YesQuality of book/paper/and pictures - Yes100% great quality very big and very heavy.Target market - Casual music fans and those new to David Bowie. Hardcore Bowie fans who buy everything David Bowie whether compilation albums, the same David Bowie studio albums several times over as different editions, or simply because they appreciate decent high quality presentation and packaging.Should you buy it? - Yes and no. It’s a lovely quality item to own and look at, quite expensive to buy but only the price of a bar meal for two these days. It’s not an essential purchase for the hardcore David Bowie fan by any means if you have all the other David Bowie photograph books that’s been made available over the years.I bought this book on behalf of another who wanted to buy me this as a gift and it is something I will definitely appreciate for years to come and occasionally look at whilst maybe playing a compilation David Bowie album when in the mood to just reminisce. It is a book of beauty and quality and a great tribute to David Bowie which of course is the whole point of it.

Great subject, poor quality !
Poor thin pages that’s arrived warped,it’s pointless making the cover so nice when the publishers have skipped on the quality of the promoting stock. The content looks great but I’ve seen magazines with thinker more flat paper than what’s used in this book. This ones going back,so disappointed.

The Best Photography Book So Far on David Bowie. Every home should have one!
This is the best Photography book of The Most Remarkable Man. It is astonishing just how many versions of David Bowie there are! There was a “young” Elvis, and an “old” Elvis. Well, there was a Bowie for every occasion, for every generation, for every nation. Auliac’s Pictures make Bowie French. Andrew Kent’s a silent movie star. Schapiro, Rock, Sukita, O’Neil...all here...Awesome stuff. Scarisbrick’s shots from 1.Outside turn Bowie into a girl & a knife wielding woman. The book is huge and rich...the pictures are given room and breathe. This Is a biography of Bowie in a way. As the Sotheby’s guides are. As his music is. Bowie’s was one remarkable life. This book covers a good few Bowie’s. There’s still a rich well to tap.

Hang him on my wall
There is no doubt this book is lovely. It’s large and the paper quality is good. However in my view it’s not essential for the Bowie bookshelf like the Cann and Pegg books are.If you have the Rock, O’Neil, Kent and Shapiro volumes you have most of the better images already. I would say I was 85% familiar with the work here. No surprises then but I do love the Scarisbrick shots.Steven Klein is one of my favourite photographers and I’m really disappointed his work with Bowie is not included here. But I appreciate it would it be impossible to include even a fraction of all the artists who snapped this very photogenic musician over the decades.Buy it for the Quality but don’t expect any surprises.

Icon; a book that lives up to its title
Superb collection of photographs of David Bowie, basically covering his life from a teenager onwards. Whilst some are not as technically proficient as others they still deserve inclusion as they go to show that it was almost impossible to take a bad photo of the man himself. A fascinating visual journey through time, styles, characters and locations. The book itself is physically really well put together, good strong spine, wonderful print quality and a decent size to appreciate the photos themselves.Very highly recommended! Essential for fans of Bowie and good photography
