Great for the price
I had a 16" laptop whose screen got ruined after I dropped a pair of tongs on it. I was deeply sceptical when I ordered this laptop as a replacement. Must say I was pleasantly surprised after receiving it. The laptop is very fast and snappy, google docs works nicely, 4k videos play without any stutter (have to adjust the viewing angles though), sound is good with a wireless speaker. It made me realise that I really don't need a machine costing £800+, and 16" is 16 too many. The best part is, the AUE date is in 2027 which keeps the laptop current till its useful lifespan.

Excellent Cromebook, perfect size and full HD
Great Cromebook. Super easy to set up, nice size and good battery life.( I ordered the bigger screen but exchanged for this slightly smaller version with 1080 full HD )Would fully recommend for web browsing, Netflix, Prime, etc...Not a full PC by any means, but that's why its a Cromebook NOT a Laptop.

Excellent apart from one niggle.
This is my second Acer Chromebook. I bought this one as my first was reaching it's AUE date. To be honest I was a bit irritated that no Chromebook sellers seem to think that giving the AUE date in the specification is important. They seem happy to sell Chromebooks which will stop receiving automatic updates within a couple of years and yet not think it important to inform the customer of this. I found this out to my cost when I bought the first Chromebook. The AUE date on this Chromebook is June 2026 and I am happy with that.Having had my moan about AUE dates let's get on to the review of this machine. Having had it for a couple of months I can say that I am happy with it except for one issue which is the screen contrast. Those of you who are used to Chromebooks will know how quickly they boot up. This one is no exception and is up and running in seconds. The build is not quite as good as my CB3-431. The aluminium lid has been replaced with plastic but this is not, overall, a problem. The keyboard also seems slightly less robust but again, not an issue. Connectivity is much improved and there is now a card slot. The HDMI port has gone but I never used it anyway. Having Two USB C's is useful as it can be charged from either side. Having the choice between 32GB and 64GB is also good. I went for the 64GB as using Linux on the 32GB takes up 7.5GB of memory and I wanted to have a bit more spare on this machine.I have to say that I am a real convert to Chromebooks. Having using Windows machines for centuries I became totally fed up with the never ending succession of lengthy updates. As a matter of interest, I have converted a couple of old laptops into Chromebooks by using Neverware Cloudready. I can thoroughly recommend readers looking into this if you have an old laptop gathering dust. It is really easy to install and breathes new life into old machines. Google have now bought Neverware and clearly they have something in mind possibly as regards making Chromebooks more secure after AUE dates have expired. As I mentioned earlier my only niggle with this device is screen contrast. I don't know what it is but fonts seem light ans slightly blurry. The background is also a bit hazy and overall it is not as clear as the old machine. I have tried adjusting every setting possible to no avail. I have even installed the font enhancer extension but it has made no difference. For this reason I have docked one star in the review. 4.5 is more like the true rating. If anyone has any suggestions regarding making the screen and fonts clearer I will be happy to hear.In summary this is a great machine for the money. I don't think anyone buying it will be disappointed. Don't expect all the bells and whistles which come with more expensive laptops as you just don't get them on Chromebooks. This is a functional workhorse which does exactly what it say on the tin. Great battery life, easy to use and good value for money.

Good solid Chromebook
Overall I'm very impressed with this device. It boots up quickly and runs at a reasonable speed, Chrome OS is very intuitive and easy to get used to, and this Acer device has a decent keyboard, good battery life, and a reasonable quality screen. The onboard sound is a little thin and the colour reproduction on video could be better, but considering the price point of the device I can't really complain about either of those.Chromebooks are aimed at a certain use case, and for sofa-surfing, the occasional document, and general day-to-day basic computing this is a solid usable reliable machine. If watching loads of video is one of your key requirements you might want to consider a device with a better screen, but this one is perfectly decent enough for the occasional YouTube / iPlayer video. Would recommend.

Excellent piece of kit
Excellent Chromebook. Fast, responsive, easy to set up and nice build quality. The keyboard is easy to use, connects to my Google pixel phone without any trouble and the screen and sound quality is excellent. If you don't need all the bells and whistles of a laptop, I'd highly recommend this.

Constantly failing wi-fi
Worked well for a while but now has constant problems connecting to wi-fi. Boots up with Wi-Fi off AND won’t let you switch it back on even with the slider….it just shuts itself off again. Without internet it’s a doorstop, a useless piece of junk. Forums show this Wi-Fi issue has been going on for years and google have not resolved it. Every device in the house connects to Wi-Fi perfectly EXCEPT THIS CHROMEBOOK. Do not buy one if you want a reliable connection.

Good but not like a HP.
VERY different from a HP. Couldn’t get to grips with it at all. Lovely looking laptop but had to send it back.Returns and Refund was very simple and went great.Thank you.

Fast,light and lots of stamina.
This is my first Chromebook, and I found it very easy to set up. I have been using it most of the day and even streamed over an hour of sport in full HD, and I still have 60+% battery. If i ever do need to charge whilst using it has charging ports to both sides, which is a very handy feature.it is a very light laptop, but still feels solid in hand.the speed is fantastic for streaming and surfing far quicker than any windows device i have ever had.the sound quality is great too, and its not fighting a noisey fan.you can get all the apps for spread sheets word processing and photo editing via the play store.overall im sold, this is a solid laptop.
