Finally a shave bowl that retains heat
I was looking into getting a scuttle because I wanted to have warm lather. Which I know is a total first world problem LOL. But the ones I saw were exorbitantly priced or bad reviews that they would easily crack. This promised to hold heat but at the price I was a tab suspicious about that claim but I figured who cares it just needs to hold soap for me. Well I filled it with as hot water as I could get from my tap and soak my nose brush while I brushed my teeth and washed my face and then I emptied it and added Proraso brown, the sandlewood one and left water in the brush and whipped up a halfway decent lather (due to my skill not due to the soap or bowl) and when Inapplied the lather to my face it was so nice and hot. Not too hot. I think the trick is to give it enough time for the steel to heat up but not so long it starts to cool. For me the time it takes to wash my face and brush my teeth is perfect. This is a good product, so worth the money, it had no defects, it is solid, it does what it says it will do and it has absolutely no branding. I’m buying an extra one to keep in case I want to grate a shaving puck and press it into the bowl just to explore different shave soaps.

So far - a dang good shaving bowl
Looks to be of sufficient quality to 1) hold soap, and 2) not rust. Those are the essential design requirements I have for this product. I suspect that it will perform rather well on those points. If it happens to disintegrate into a pile of rusty metal, I will report back accordingly - but I expect for things to work out just fine.

Shiny bowl… pretty
Nice bowl, works well for whipping up a nice foamy shaving cream.

Bigger bowl, better lather
I have been using empty proraso container and decided to buy a bowl. I wasn’t planning on leaving a review but after using for about 2 weeks, I found a big difference in lathering up the brush with this larger bowl. Better thicker lather. The bigger diameter makes a big difference.
