Q: What kind of glass is this bottle made out of ? Is it strong enough to withstand very hot water right after boiling?

No, they cannot withstand hot water I just purchased them and trie sanitizing with just 1 cup of boiling water and one of the jars cracked. Must look for borosilicate glass which can handle heat 200 degrees over boiling point .

Q: how far do you refill until you are at exactly one gallon?

One gallon does not weigh 128 ounces. A gallon is 128 FLUID OUNCES, its a volume. Although the conversion is very close. One gallon of WATER weighs 8.33 pounds which is equal to 133.28 ounces. Please know the difference between weight and volume.

Q: Where can I get just the lids? I broke one and I have 4 older bottles with rusted lids.

I found that lids from kombucha glass bottle drinks at 7 eleven or grocery store fit

Q: Is there a proper way to sanitize the bottle and its cap? Safe to place in oven for 10 minutes to sanitize after washing? Ordered for water storage
