I own a lab who likes to lay at my feet. I pretreated my carpet with this product. I first applied it using a pump pressure sprayer, then worked it in with a carpet rake. Sprayed again and followed with my carpet cleaning machine. Looks fantastic!

The scent was very minimal. There is no directions on mix ratio. I went through the gallon fast as I did not mix with water in my carpet cleaner. Did get some bad stains lifted.
