Sew Beautiful: Make Stylish Handmade Clothing with Simple Stitch-and-Wear Patterns : Wong: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Good patterns, good value - I pre-ordered this book in the paper format, which (judging by the tracking) desertcart sourced from Germany to fulfil the pre-order, so thanks to desertcart for doing this as I don't think you can get the paper version in the UK at present. The book is aimed at those starting their sewing journey, so things like buttonholes and zips are avoided. In pandemic times this has the advantage of not having to source matching buttons and zips, so makes getting everything together much easier. There are a good selection of patterns for woven and knit fabrics, 4 tops/dresses, a skirt, joggers/shorts, a cardi and a wrap jacket. Unlike Itch to Stitch pdf patterns available online, different cup sizes are not included. I have made 3 items so far (Carlsbad cardigan, Mornington top and the Palermo top) and they all fit me fine with some ease. Experienced sewists with cup sizes of C/D may wish to consider an FBA on the Mornington top though. The patterns are printed on 4 sheets, with one on each side (8 patterns in total). This is good as it saves hunting through pattern sheets to find all the pieces you need. Inevitably the pattern lines overlap, which isn't a problem for most of the designs, but the page for the Fortuna joggers does look 'busy' and could be a bit confusing. The same colours and line styles are used to identify the different sizes as Itch to Stitch use in their pdf patterns, which I found helpful. So, overall, a useful book for those new to sewing, but also worth considering for experienced sewists who are looking for straightforward makes. Review: Wonderful book & patterns - Can't complain when you can get 8 patterns for the price of 1! All instructions very clear with illustration and detailed explanation. NB - there is an issue with pdf pattern download. The publisher didn't include the link/password in the initial publication and the author has been working very hard with them to fix it. Please do not leave 1 star review because of this, as it is really not the Author's fault. The information will be delivered in an update to the book in the next couple of days, as promised by the publisher

Good patterns, good value
I pre-ordered this book in the paper format, which (judging by the tracking) Amazon sourced from Germany to fulfil the pre-order, so thanks to Amazon for doing this as I don't think you can get the paper version in the UK at present. Perfect to improve your sewing skills
I can never fault this designer and am delighted that she has produced a whole book of her beautiful patterns at - let’s face it - a giveaway price. Kennis is the most “attention to detail” designer I have come across. If you sew with her, you know she is holding your hand every step of the way. She is taking me on my sewing journey that I suspended 30 years ago

Nice book but patterns a bit boring.
This was the Kindle version. What I really like is that there is a link in the book where I can get the patterns. Patterns not really exciting but good for maybe beginners and the experienced who want something quick to make.

Best Sewing Book I've read
I started sewing 7yrs ago and have bought a few sewing books and only sewed one pattern between them, this one I have sewn all of the patterns already (digital format) and bought the book for the paper instructions, It's a beautiful glossy quality book. You will love the patterns, there's something for everyone, woven or knit, and the patterns have interesting details and flattering fit that will appeal to intermediate sewers not just beginners.

Worth the wait
I have made a number of the author's patterns and could not pass up the opportunity to get 8 patterns for the price of one. I was not disappointed and the e-book instructions are at the same standard as all the other patterns I have bought. There was a slight problem as the links to the pdf's were not included with the e-book. The Author worked very hard to resolve this issue and Amazon emailed the link to me within a few days.. It is a shame that Amazon let the Author down in such a way. I hope that this is the first e-book of many. The e-book does not deserve one star as I have seen some people have given it. It is Amazon which deserve the one star for not informing the purchaser of the problem.

Fabulous!
I have both the printed book and the pdf to make downloading the patterns and printing the instructions easier, both well worth the money

Yesterday I purchased the kindle version in order do get the pdf patterns, since I’m a pdf sewing pattern hunter! To get the pdfs, after the purchase is completed, you need to open the ebook, then you will see the link and the password to download 16 files (8 patterns, available in A4 and A0 format, hence 16). I’m considering purchasing the paper book because I don’t like ebooks very much. I’m bit an old style reader. I liked the patterns, simple and easy to modify.

Excellent for beginner sewers who know basic terminology. I have been using Kennis’ patterns for just a few months but find them accurate and easy to follow. Her designs, I think, are easily wearable for anyone. Be sure to check the sizing for each pattern becasue you may be a different size in some patterns. Also, check the finished garment measurements for each so that you can judge the ease intended and what you prefer. This is for any pattern, of course, but just meant to be a reminder. As an accomplished seamstress who has been sewing since age 5 and making my own clothing since age 10, I find that it’s easy to rush into a pattern and sometimes skipping that essential part! I am new to independent designer patterns and digital patterns but have found them to be so much more accurate, usually, than any of the big 4 used to be! I have printed a few tops at home but I think it is easier for me to have patterns printed at a copy shop. Some designers will suggest shops that do a better job than others. Check that the shop you might be using is familiar with printing patterns from digital files! This book is worth the cost for the instruction you will get in the printed book (no patterns in this version) and especially in the ebook version, since patterns are included.
