Beans Like You Do NOT See Often!
These gigante beans are HUGE and really delicious. I make a dish called "Fasoulia," (from a cookbook on Amazon called "Panache - Montreal's Flair for Kosher Cooking"). "Fasoulia" is a Greek dish of gigante beans (or lima beans) in a savory tomato sauce. When I've made this dish in the past, I used lima beans from the grocery store as I have not seen gigante beans in the legumes aisle. There is a "big" difference when using the gigante beans! These beans are SO good.

Great Product!
I have been looking for the Gigande beans forever and never thought to look on Amazon! The beans are beautiful. Followed the directions for cooking and poured a vinaigrette over them while they were warm and let them cool. Delicious.

Neat looking Giant Beans; A bit drier than expected.
Maybe I need to learn a better way to prepare these great looking beans. I soaked them for 24 hours; then simmered them several hours. I've had them 3 times, sometimes hot with ghee & spices; and also as a salad I found online. But they are a bit drier than the creamy flavor I was expecting.

Great beans but expensive
I didn’t know what to expect from these beans since I had never cooked or eaten them before. Some reviews were great while others weren’t so much. My personal experience was great. I wanted to make a vegetarian Greek dish by Diane Kochilas that called for these beans. I followed the directions to the letter and the casserole was absolutely fantastic. It was a large casserole and I thought we would be eating it for a week but there were three of us and it lasted two days. Great quality beans with plump and creamy texture. I soaked them over night plus some, boiled them till almost tender then baked in the casserole for two And a half to three hours. I only used 1/2 lb in the recipe and they cooked to a very large individual bean size and overall quantity. I will buy them again even at the current price.

Smaller than the limas in my local grocery store and taste about the same
Tasted good. I wanted the biggest bean I could find for the dish. Really not any bigger than the limas from my local grocery store. It’s a natural agricultural product so I expect some variation, but I won’t buy again.

Makes fabulous baked beans and soup
The beans came well packaged and protected, with no dirty or broken beans in the bag. I used them to make excellent and creamy baked beans, added them to chili, and made a pasta e fagioli soup with them. A little unconventional, but the result was a lovely, creamy texture, and a bean that didn’t fall apart or leave shells behind. I’ll definitely buy these again.
